George Santos taught the Gracie family everything they know about Jiu-Jitsu.

The gay Hitler youth?  He should just step down, Kathy Hochul will probably try to put Donald Trump for his seat, if her judical picks are anything to go by.

He can rest assured someone absolutely terrible will hold his seat, and as a bonus they'll ALSO be a compulsive liar and racist

I arranged with my friend who has a driver's license to rent a truck so we could get my Ikea dresser. I arranged with Anthony [Santos] a time to come. He said, "Okay." I tried to take my dresser, and a fight started. His mother said, "You're not gonna take my dresser." I was like, "Excuse me, how come this is yours? Did you buy it? Do you have the receipt?" The neighbors were coming to their doors because of the disturbance. It wasn't that expensive, so I let it go.

Imagine being so happy to get ouf of there that you are even giving away your funiture to speed up the process.

Also:

In related news, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, whose Speakership has been one humiliation after another, said on Tuesday that Santos will be removed from Congress if the House Ethics Committee determines he broke the law. Until then, however, he'll be backing the guy. "You know why I'm standing by him? Because his constituents voted for him," McCarthy said, leaving out the part about his constituents having voted for an entirely different person.

Jeebus, what a shiat show.

I just wish I could look away. This is compelling the way a 20 car pileup is compelling.  I feel dirty for even reading about it.

Santos is the living emblem of the modern GOP from top to bottom. Such an accumulation of embarrassments.

2023-01-27 7:19:31 AM
I read the other day that if it is found that Santos actually committed a crime then he would be booted from Congress.

On one hand, that gave me some hope that we would see the end of this story.  On the other hand, there ain't not farking way he will ever be convicted.  The worst that will happen will be someone saying, "Yeah, that's illegal."  Then McCarthy will say, "Well, he's innocent until proven guilty.  My hands are tied."

And even if indicted, he will complete his term before it ever goes to trial.

So my optimism is right back in the toilet.

I really, REALLY wish Santos' defenders would get some pushback on this. "The person on the ballot allegedly had all of these qualifications, while the person in the chamber has none of those. Who did the people elect?"

I doubt if the investigation would even be done before his term was up, and if it looks that bad by then, the RNC will get someone else to primary him in 2024 and he'll just go away

I thought the point of grifting was to go UNDER the radar?

I know that TFG sort of flipped that script, but this is just poor craft at this point. Were I in Congress, I'd have suggested booting him before he brought attention to all the irregular crap that those already seated have been doing. And there's already enough heat there, thanks to Donnie and Co.

The majority of Americans, including the majority of both Republicans and gun owners, want more strict gun laws.  The GOP doesn't care about approval ratings unless a Dem's is poor.

And Santos' illegal acts are ongoing.  Just this week he tried to hire a treasurer for his campaign, the guy turned him down, but Santos went ahead and signed the guy's name to a campaign finance report

If Hochul worked nearly as hard to campaign as she has been to seat an anti-choice anti-union ultra-conservative in a judicial seat, the speaker of the House would be a democrat.

Republicans literally don't care about the lies. That's why they keep saying this. They're saying that since Santos is a Republican, that's why people voted for him, so it doesn't matter what he says or does or if he isn't what he says he is.

If he came out and said, "I'm actually a Democrat," McCarthy would immediately have him removed from Congress. Within minutes, probably.

FTFA:
Last month federal prosecutors in Brooklyn reportedly launched an investigation into the congressman, which was said to include a probe of his finances. He is also under investigation by the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. Meanwhile, the New York State attorney general's office has separately said it is "looking into a number of issues" concerning Santos.

FTFY. Franken shouldn't have been forced to resign. They targeted him specifically because he was too far to the left.

You think Dems targeted him? No. Roger Stone did as shown in two tweets he did (from two different shell accounts after his main one had been banninated) saying that Al's "time in the barrel" was about to come for sexual harrassment allegations, the day before Tweeden published her accusation and released that photo (which was almost certainly Photoshopped as I've shown in detail before). He did it both because Al had defeated their great hope for keeping the Dems from a veto-proof supermajority in the Senate (after multiple recounts), but also because Franken was so very effective at refuting GOP lies. He literally wrote the books (plural!) on that subject (Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right and Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot: And Other Observations and I think there was at least one other whose title I'm blanking on)

Now, if you want to say that Gillibrand and Schumer saw a golden opportunity to rid themselves of a turbulent priest of progressivism (and take a likely rival out of the way for Gillibrand's own Presidential aspirations) and exploited what Stone et al had done, then yeah, I can go with that (like how PNAC exploited the heck out of 9/11 but didn't cause it [al-Qæda did]). It was Schumer who finally pressured Franken to resign after the anonymous congressional aide's allegation came out.

I had one in my social circle - one of my mates told me of this guy telling one of my best stories as if it happened to him, at the end my mate called him out on it, saying "that's Langdon's story."  No doubt it didn't stop this liar from telling the same story in other social circles.
