Now that's said, what was the article about?

Be careful with the plus size heroin. Let's see, $125k a week? I've got it: Matt Damon!

Sounds like he managed to waste a lot of it on cars and real estate for sure.  But he also  put a lot into charity.

I kinda like that he bought a 55% stake in his favorite football club so he could donate it to the fans when he died.

Maybe not exactly a charity, but certainly a nice "fark you" to the capitalists who run things.

It was a bunch of bland, £35k cars. I mean, yeah, you do you, but not sure how he got through £100k a week on E Class Mercedes

The answer is cocaine, isn't it?

From TFA:
His garage housed four luxury cars - a vintage Bentley Arnage, worth £10,000, a £28,250 three-year-old Jaguar F-Pace SUV, a £24,000 four-year-old Mercedes Benz E Class Estate and a 2019 Mercedes Benz V Class people carrier, valued at about £35,000.

So the Bentley cost less than a 4 year old Mercedes? Those things really depreciate!

The capitalists on the board are trying to "yoink" the control of the club - as you would expect.

I would wear a tiara full time and have a lot of fantastic jewelry and clothes. I would likely buy a castle in Europe. I would completely pimp out my 65 mustang ("Dorothy") and give her the sparkly red paint job she deserves. I've read about people turning classic cars into EVs so I would likely do that. I would do a LOT of travelling, private or first class, and I would pay for friends to come. And I would give away a bunch of my money to the people I know in my life who are struggling. $5 million to every other single mama I know.

He bought a 55 per cent stake in Partick Thistle a month before he died so he could donate the club to the fans and put its future in the hands of the local community.

That's a worthy way to spend lottery money.  Good on him.

Sure. Especially if it's getting out of an abusive relationship. I wish someone had given me $5mil to leave my shiatty ex husband.

You have a point (nothing is free) but my taxes in Europe are not 45%. Maybe this lotto winner, but tax rates for the average worker is comparable to the US.

My monthly insurance payment (which is required by law) is based on my income, not my health condition. Same for my social contribution. Thats the main difference

After setting up my family and friends, I'd do the charity thing. Either mobile women's healthcare as a religious organization and go to the backwards states (all abortion and healthcare providers are ordained clergy providing care at no cost, and pray beforehand so procedures are part of religious services).

Or/in addition, buy a strip mall in the worst parts of town, tear out the stores, and make accessible food pantries, donation distribution centers and good samaritan loans. People "pay back" the loans by working at those places for a few hours a week, but in reality there is no payback and they volunteer while getting paid and getting work experience/training.

And last dream is take an old, abandoned, empty store or two, tear it down, and turn it into a nature area with a walking labrynth. There would be a building as a non-denominational worship area for pagans. Maybe even set up some shrines, because a shrine dedicated to Lucifer, in the form of a library/free book stop, is worth it.

Basically, find the most 1st Amendment invoking way to be anti-capitalist and put cash/goods directly into the hands of those who need it.

The greatest feeling I get is helping others. I don't have a lot, but it's enough for me. I'd do something similar
