Who buys that and what would you do with it? I'm sure the government sells that info too (at least in the US that's been a side hustle for DMVs).

Easy solution: everyone in Austria trade birthdays with the person to their left. Boom. Data is useless, everyone wins.

That is what my banks and ISP use to verify they are talking to me.  So data that lots of people spread over social media.

/the reason hospitals ask for your birthday is sometimes they do have two John Smiths and it is an easy 2nd check.

You should change banks.

Now, that said, I'd say the same about ISPs, but I think statistically, you probably don't have another option, so, good luck. Same goes for power companies.
