Goddammnit. What farking ritual?
Drtfa, but stop with the bullshiat "ritual" bullshiat if you dont farking know.
A 7 foot sword? No problem.
Drtfa but a two hander could easily be 7 foot. If a man can be a 6' 5 " warrior, he can have a big sword made if he farking wants. He's a big boy.

Jesus farking Christ.

How many rituals involve swords anymore outside of fraternal societies with their letter opener toad stickers?

Here, this. I would carry this into battle, and I'm only 5 10.
76 1/2" total length.
I'm quite comfortable with it.

And worth every cent in a blade fight.

For ritual slaughter.

vudukungfu:

The three treasures of Shinto are the mirror, the sword, and the jewel. They were brought out to ... anoint? coronate? the new emperor in the traditional ceremony.  So that's one.

That's a lot of iron to be burying. Had to be someone of great importance.

It's in a kofun, Japan's version of pyramids.

everything i learned about japan i learned from anime

that seems like a reasonable sword length for a 5'2" woman
or a 12y/o child

both of whom would wield it while jumping 30 feet through the air and slicing demons in half

It's a 7.5 ft. Japanese Iron sword. You can't get the same strength or light weight that you can with steel, especially with 4th century technology. Probably very heavy. Maybe useful in beheading

Was it an enchanted +3 longsword and a magic mirror to repel against cockatrices? Did they also find a scroll of fire and an yellow amulet, or a +2 ring of power?

"I wouldn't touch that with a 7 foot sword. Which is why this is 7.5 feet."

They would also push off walls post jump, and energy of some sort would arc out of the blade, making it able to cut through stuff the size of a small hill.
