To say the article has insufficient detail would be understating it.

The kid has a hand that didn't develop properly - OK, so how much of a hand does he have?  Because really... that's a lot of potential motor control for a more modern prosthetic.

What are the capabilities of the class-designed 3D printed prosthetic?  They say he played catch with it - but I suspect it's acting as a dumb glove.  But maybe there's some elastic grip or something and they just didn't mention it?

yep.  another orphan crushing machine story.
feel good b/c something every person with a medical problem should get for free from the social safety net is instead sort of provided for this one person by a bunch of other kids.  since the system that should exist to provide them for everyone doesn't exist.  FEEL GOOD DAMMIT!
