California has a population over 39 million, many of whom are transplants from across the country (and around the world) so you can damn well bet you're able to find some of the best pizza, BBQ, and any other kind of food you can think of.

/not from Cali
//man... I don't think so

I have never heard of this place that is less than 10 miles from the house I have lived in for 15 years (with work offices having been even closer), but I have some initial doubts that it is the #1 pizza in Arizona and #18 pizza in North America.

No one ever bring that place into any "best of" conversations. Unless it's "Number of truck stops", "Italians that think they're in the cast of Sopranos", "Strip Clubs without liquor licenses" or "warehouse compounds".

and that is the ENTIRE basis of The Pizza Wars. they are a proxy war for Best City and people are loyal to their hometown. like all my chicago friends agree that detroit style is awesome (because it objectively is yum), but it sure as shiat helps that there's not a strong traditional "best city" fight going on there like NYC vs. chicago or LA....

I love NYC pizza, but for me, being in NYC to eat the pizza is the best part of the pizza. I don't know if it'd be the best if it was removed from that context.

Born and raised a short distance from Chicago, I not only do not defend the style, I never even heard of it until I moved to New Jersey in my teens. Ditto Chicago-style hot dogs and the hatred of ketchup.  Hot dogs came with ketchup and mustard when I was a kid. Maybe some pickle relish.

When I think of Chicago food it's Italian Beef 100% of the time. I finally found a place that did it right in Portland, OR. Then their entire block was bulldozed and more apartments without parking were built on the site.

I am all about trying all kinds of pizza things , but, that is just too much bread for me. I would save the roundy crust parts and make croutons or cut them into thirds ( cylindrically ) and reheat and dip into a garlic / cheese / marinara sauce and serve with a chowder.

There's a small chain of grocery markets in the Seattle area that has a great deli, salad bar, pizzeria, butcher, and cheese and fish mongers. It's called Town and Country and I would hope that anyone within 15-20 miles of 155th and Aurora, Shoreline, knows and goes to this place.

My point is that they have great take and bake pizzas. I have found that I can scrunch up the pie to make more of a deep dish but it works best if I roll up string cheese in the crust to do so. The extra bread becomes delicious with cheesy goodness and not just puffy carbs. (Which I would eat anyhow but now it has cheese!)

Yeah, BS; as a son of the Northeast, I can tell you, when you move to California, you say goodbye to great pizza. You do, however, say hello to great Mexican food. It's difficult to even find decent pizza dough to make a good garbage bread.

Perhaps, but that would not be my first thought. Also, eating that ? I would not have any room for dessert , even if I used a spoon to just scoop the toppings off. I would be full of cheese , onions and whatever else was in that. And happy .

I mean, Yelp is not exactly the last word on this, but there is something to be said for not going all-in on a particular style.  It gives you freedom to explore a large foodspace and come up with great new things.
