It would be a shorter and easier if I listed what I won't dip my fries in.

Good Times' wild sauce is pretty good. Anywhere that has malt vinegar around often ends up with it on my fries. But most generally, nothing.

Garlic aioli or curry mayo

2023-01-24 6:10:07 PM
Malt vinegar if they're nice and crispy.

2023-01-24 6:12:20 PM
Dump about a half cup of mayo, unscrew top of pepper shaker and add a few tablespoons on top of it.

mayonnaise and deli mustard, plus 7spice. or mayo and matouks calypso. or mayo and gator hammock swamp. or mayo and karashi. or mayo and green chutney.

or pommery, no mayo. or keri nu shaak (guj'rati unripe mango chutney) no mayo.

First time I was in Ireland brown curry sauce was all the rage. Do they still do that?

enry: Malt vinegar if they're nice and crispy.

smh, restaurants and bars here actually know damn well TF malt vinegar is... they simply do not stock it :-(

oh, and brown sauce of course. hp or otherwise. but Branstons is going a bit too far.

If the blood of my enemies is not available, a good fry sauce is my first choice but there's nothing wrong with a ketchup-derived sauce either.

Ketchup sucks. It makes everything get touches taste like ketchup. It's like the zombie condiment

2023-01-24 7:01:37 PM
straight mustard.

It's not cloyingly sweet like ketchup and the acid cuts through the greasy, golden, perfect bites.

I prefer hot wing sauce.

I like a mixture of ketchup, mayo and A1. Culver's is the only place I can easily find the necessary ingredients.

Salt & pepper. That's it. That's all.

Y'all a buncha heathens.

House brand ketchup with a few dashes of chipotle Tabasco stirred in.

Valid on sweet potato fries only: curry aoli, blue cheese and rosemary

I go to maralago and scrape them across the walls

 Nothing. They must stand alone.

2023-01-24 10:34:58 PM
Usually, nothing. Good fries don't need anything more than salt, However, sometimes I'll dip them in some honey mustard or Thousand Island dressing.

My kids prefer Utah fry sauce. I make it with ketchup, mayo, and (just because I don't want them to be completely pasty) a generous dose of Tabasco sauce.

They were born in Utah.

Try adding a little bit of dill relish.  That's how they like it over here.

your mom. Curiously piquant, although frequently with a hair too much whang.

or Dukes mayo with a healthy shprinkle of fresh pepper

McD's Hot Mustard sauce
Mayo

that's all

Nothing. French Fries are greasy calories that they over-serve in order to give you a gut that overshadows your dong, and clog your arteries to the point that your dong doesn't work anymore anyway. You want that, Porky?

Ketchup's fine but pretty far down my list. Most basic barbecue sauces are fine.  Gojuchang and mayo.  Sometimes a sweet Thai chili sauce, but that's a little too sweet for me usually.

2023-01-24 11:05:28 PM
Nothing. Just lightly salted and that's it.

2023-01-24 11:06:27 PM
Just about anything, but mayo's the first stop.  Except for dippin' 'em in a Frosty.  I don't get that whole thing.

Unpopular choice: 1 tablespoon Miracle Whip to 1 teaspoon hot horseradish.

Shashlik sauce.  (aka 'curry ketchup'.  Sold in the US as 'mild sauce with a touch of curry'):

Or the spicy version. Or garlic.

Mayo also works, but with a little mustard or hot sauce. If you're out and about.  Or just vinegar when I'm in the mood.

I've also been known to drown them in Valentina hot sauce and a bit of Mayo so they're like a lazy patatas bravos.

Update: It works with Tater Tots, too.

I'll do a gochujang/ketchup/mayo combo every once in a while and it's pretty damn tasty. Maybe add a little hot sauce for an additional kick.

Yes, but I control the horsey level.

This is the only sub-Fark with people who turn their noses up at premade condiments.

That said, I dip my fries in whatever will make them taste better, as the filler in any fast-food meal where I can't get onion rings. Unless the fries are actually good.

Malt vinegar.
But which? Well, around here, Heinz mysteriously disappeared from shelves to be replaced by either Holland House (tart, a little sweet) or London Pub. LP is surely never used in its namesake, for it is weak and sweet. I mean, really sweet. I don't know what they're feeding the scoby-equivalent that makes it, but, ugh. Or, if you hunt for it, you can find Sarson's in the international section, and it's the best of the bunch. And, the bottle of 1794 Sarson's gets pulled out for the epic fries.

Would love to hear of other brands.

Back in grad school (Plant Sci.-potatoes), I got a personal tour of a Lamb-Weston MacFry plant.  At the end of the tour, we were in the tasting room/QA lab.  As we were about to sample some of the product, I asked if they had some ketchup, to see if it would get a reaction.  It did...I got a very stern lecture.  They take their spuds seriously down there.

Only children think that fries need to be dipped in anything.  I'm not a child.
