He's just looking for those conversion therapy clinics where they punish gay men like they used to punish kids caught smoking: "If you like it so much then you're going to finish the whole carton right now."

Hagee, now 82, had been popular with Republicans in the George W. Bush administration, but by the time McCain ran, the minister's toxic rhetoric had become too much even for most Republicans. As I wrote a couple years ago:

"Among other things, he has said that gays caused Hurricane Katrina, referred to the Catholic Church as the 'great whore,' called Hitler a 'half-breed' Jew, and said that Hitler was part of God's plan to get the Jews back to Israel."

So you're saying he's an evangelical who still says what evangelicals think out loud like it's 1995 or something.

I imagine his only sin in Republican society today is having cast aspersions on Hitler.

The Outing

Throughout the episode, Jerry and George fear being seen as homosexual, yet also feel afraid they will be perceived as homophobic, so they condition their denials with the phrase "not that there's anything wrong with that."[2]

2024 GOP primary is shaping up to be a cakewalk for Trump.

- Pence to capture the "wants all the Trump policies, but Trump himself makes them feel icky" evangelical voters who wanted Trump to stay in office, but thinks that maybe calls for hanging Pence went a bit too far.

- DeSantis to capture the "wants a candidate who triggers the libs as much as Trump, but is actually competent enough to gut social security and medicare" chamber of commerce voters.

- John Bolton to capture the "Trump was only bad because he didn't start a war with Iran or Russia" neocon voters.

- Leaving Trump free to amass a plurality consisting of the diehard Trump voters, the libertarian "let Russia take over Ukraine" voters, and the Qanon voters.

Oh, were we still pretending that Roman Catholics are liberal?

Once it became clear to me that twenty years of treating Catholics like they were my fellow human beings deserving of respect and they didn't return the favor, I've stopped letting those people in my home. You know, the home their church thinks I don't deserve to live in.

What does Pence expect to get out of this? He's not going to get votes and, more importantly, he's not going to get money. Who would donate to Pence's campaign, even as a money laundering scheme of some kind?

If it wasn't for Pope Francis, catholic pastors and bishops would be lining up to endorse Pence. He might get Frank Pavone's endorsement now that he's defrocked, but it would be anti choice and anti gay reasons.

It's all part of the grift...It's ingratiate himself to them so he can then go on a "speaking tour" and
where he can suck up some of that sweet sweet cash in "speaking fees" and hide it all behind some
shell church  or campaign bullshat he has going...It's all about the source and the method of payments to
get around those pesky taxes.. And as a bonus the lead church grifters can get a piece of the action too.
It's a win/win for all the grifters...

John Hagee is what you'd get if you distilled pure hatred into 2.5 cubic feet of noxious tar and then poured it into a skin suit. Absolutely the foulest human being I've ever been within 10 feet of - and I've been in the U.S. senate building, so that's saying something.

For his own sake, John had better farking hope nothing in that book of his is true.

Says who? Cornerstone Ministries makes money hand over fist, and pays zero taxes. Hagee has shiatloads of it specifically earmarked for giving to fellow hatemongers.

There are people out there who believe the Mike Pence is too much of an Establishment candidate.

Oh, Donald, Say It Ain't So

JULY 15, 2016BY CLYDE WILSON

Back when the Republican feedlot was full of wannabes for the next presidential nomination, this site published my little tongue-in-cheek pieces, "Looking for Mr. Republican" (Sept. 13, 2013) and  "Don't Look Any Further, Mr. Republican Has Been Found" (April 3, 2015), describing the ideal Republican candidate. First, he must be presentable and respectable-someone you would consider a good neighbor and who would never violate the standard of American Niceness. He should look presidential, like William McKinley and Warren G. Harding. He must be from north of the Ohio River. He must not have any taint of "extremism," i.e., must never have resisted any leftist pressure. He must be lacking in any ideas or principles, able smoothly to deliver meaningless Republican boilerplate ("compassionate conservatism," "No Child Left Behind," etc.) He must be completely without any intellectual distinction or force of character, either of which might alarm the voters with lack of a moderate and responsible persona. The Republican Party has long specialized in the dumb but nice (Dan Quayle, Bush minor, ad infinitum).

Having established all these desirable characteristics, I declared in 2015 that I had found the perfect Mr. Republican: "Pence of Indiana," the perfection of an Establishment Republican empty suit, who had declared himself boldly for "family values" and then run away at the first enemy probe.

Donald Trump has done his country great service by simply telling the truth, tearing a Donate few holes in the great fabric of lies that  makes up American public discourse.  The American people have responded to  his boldness and independence. I believe that I am not alone in fearing that he has  now betrayed himself, his cause, and his  country by giving in to his discredited  Establishment enemies. It is not at all  clear that Pence adds any strength to the  ticket or to a future administration. He could well prove a bleeding ulcer to Trump. His selection confuses a clear and winning message. Trump should have, if true to himself, chosen a new man-someone young and dynamic and dedicated to destroying Establishment power and obfuscation.

https://chroniclesmagazine.org/web/oh-donald-say-it-aint-so/

/Granted, Wilson is a bit of a nutter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clyde_N._Wilson).
//But he's a Trump supporter, so I guess that's a given...

President Dwight Eisenhower, Republican, uttered these words on November 8, 1954:

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

Never forget that Conservatives supported the Nazi in the 1930's-40's.  Even holding a rally for them in NYC.  Had Hitler not declared war on the U.S., the Conservatives would have tried to keep the U.S. from fighting them and instead only fight the Japanese. That Axis alliance as far as the Japanese were concerned was only on paper, they never sent soldiers to fight along side the Germans unlike Franco who sent Spanish solders to fight along side the Nazi in Russia.
