sno man: They're gonna pay for that work, no?

LOL I bet they won't. It's the ancient and venerable "do it for the exposure" trick that always gets played on artists

I am confused.  Floyd is back together with Waters?  I thought Waters "owned" Dark Side or do I have it backwards?

It's something at least.  But the amount of work required for the quality I'd expect of a winning entry would certainly command much more than £10,000 in the open market.

Just what the world needs. Yet another PF reissue/repackage. How many versions of the same album does one need?

yeah, i generally agree with that.  like how, as a huge U2 fan, last week's announcement they're re-recording 40 songs for their new album, being U2, they got shiat on.  "hurf hurf hurf, nice cash grab bro!"  which is fair.

but, despite the 2009 remaster of Beatles "Revolver", and I thiiiiiiiink they did a 50th anniv edition around 2017 or what the fark, and then just a few months ago, a yet new version.

But, the new version is absolutely astounding.  in part due to Peter Jackson's Beatles film 1-2 years ago, for that project they developed cutting edge audio technology to isolate - ofr the film - individual instruments/voices, and someone had the idea, "hmmm, think this would work with the original 4 track master tapes?"  "oh no, there's no way to digitially isolate the tracks.  can't be done."

oh they did it.  and it sounds absolutely incredible.  i don't knwo what kind of sonic alchemy they did, but you've never heard Revolver sound this good.  Ringo has never sounded so good.

so yeah, threadjack, but if you had any doubts about the new, new, new revolver, run, do not walk to your local music store.  thank me later.

I'll make a video but it will just be lasers like that crappy Griffith Park show I went to in the 80s.

Sure, lasers were new and everything, but it was boring as hell after a few minutes.  The music was of course, great, but the neck rests on those seats so we could stare at the ceiling were very uncomfortable no matter how stoned I was.

My lawn, Roger.  Get off it, you lunatic.

And you can't have any pudding either.

Yes, the headrests at Laserium (sp) were crap, but I loved the shows. Tickets were not too costly, you could picnic and party prior to the show.  The shows weren't that long, so you could proceed with the rest of the evening. Great place/event for a date.

Much more difficult, post-covid.  An analog of it is legal in many parts of the world, but they've pretty much stopped shipping to the US, because higher scrutiny of stuff coming into the country.

I saw them the first time in 75 and that tours version of DSoTM was the best. Just the band, sax, and sometimes Clare Torry. It has a sound and feel that is unlike the other tours. It is way more raw.

That album is legitimately amazing. Something about the tempo of DSotM made it perfect for reggae. The rest of their cover albums were fun but didn't turn out quite as well.

It's a shame that Roger Waters went from "a musician who is at times an egotistical asshole" to "a full-time egotistical asshole with terrible geopolitical opinions that sometimes does music."

I wonder if the live show is the one I had on bootleg in the 1980s. I hope so, it's mind blowing.

Their version of OK Computer worked well for me. The live show rocked.

But it's interesting you mentioned how well DSotM works as a reggae album. When I listen to the PF album BtB with Easy Stars, the tempo and rhythmic feel are surprisingly similar.
Well, maybe the DnB version of On the Run is pretty different.
