the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology

Perfect. No doubt his experience as a Christian spiritual leader, crystal healer, psychic, and shamanistic mystic ministering to millions will help guide the committee in their duties.

Santos is the poster boy of what republicans do and stand for is what McCarthy is saying with the committee assignment.
Lying, cheating and stealing is the republican platform to go with the republican motto, be evil.

Kind of speaks poorly of the US when the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology is considered "minor".

A reporter asked McCarthy about Santos impersonating McCarthy's campaign to solicit funds and while McCarthy very softly condemned that, McCarthy was smiling, like he was impressed by Santos' scumminess.

And 9/11 truther MTG was appointed to the Homeland Security committee.

Republicans appoint the worst possible people to any government job they can, because their goal is to destroy the government.

That's what they're paid for. That and tax cuts for the rich when they have the votes.

The GOP represents those that think America is better served as 50 little feifdoms run by assholes like them.

The audacity of Republicans keeps growing bigger.

"Even if George Santos lied about being Jewish, lied about his family fleeing from the holocaust, lied about being half-black, lied about his mother being the first female executive of a major financial institution, lied about his mother being killed in the South Tower on 9-11, lied about going to an elite preparatory school, lied about graduating Baruch College, lied about his grade point average, lied about being the star player and captain of the volleyball team, lied about the accolades of that volleyball team, lied about needing double knee replacement from volleyball, lied about having a master's degree from New York University, lied about committing check fraud in Brazil, lied about working as a journalist, lied to the Brazilian government about being a teacher in America, lied about working on Wall Street, lied about working for Citigroup, lied about working for Goldman Sachs, lied about attending the SALT private equity conference, lied about his family being wealthy real estate tycoons in the United States and Brazil (while actually working at a Dish Network call center), lied about having four employees who were killed in the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, lied about the authenticity of a standby letter of credit from Deutsche Bank while with his employer Harbor City Capital (under civil suit for being a Ponzi scheme), lied about founding a charity called Friends of Pets United, lied about the amount of homes he owned, lied about where he lives, lied about his income, lied about the source of his income, lied about his company's size, lied about the amount of clients his company had, lied about campaign donations, hired someone to impersonate Kevin McCarthy's chief of staff and lie to donors on his behalf, and lied about having a brain tumor, so what?

Who cares if he ran a ponzi scheme? Who cares if he stole checks in Brazil? Who cares if stealing checks is his M.O. and multiple roommates have come forward saying their checkbooks went missing too? Who cares if he stole $3,000 from a fund raiser for a vet's dying service dog? Who cares if he brazenly committed campaign finance fraud?

Elizabeth Warren lied about being Native America! Democrats are just as bad!"

Warren exaggerating a fictional Native American heritage is the moral equivalent of everything Santos does, combined. That's how it works when one party is doormat and the other has no ethical standards or shame.

Meh, I've seen plenty of imposters prosper at large companies.

They say, "of course I can develop this in Python," or "I'm an expert at SQL."

When it comes time for them to work they first pretend to know what they're doing, then they try to learn it quickly, then they instead focus on the small parts of the job they can do.

Eventually their manager finds another unwitting idiot to pass them off to with a promotion.

In the corporate world, lying is always a safe bet.

Rep. Roger Williams, a Texas Republican and the chairman of the House Small Business Committee for the 118th Congress, defended the decision to name Santos to his committee.
"I don't condone what he said, what he's done. I don't think anybody does. But that's not my role. He was elected," Williams told CNN.

No, he wasn't. A farking fictional character was elected.

Yeah, this new talking point republicans are using is nuts but it does track with their overall philosophy that voters should only be represented by republicans, regardless of what they actually want.  To the GOP voters serve politicians, not the other way around, and the only politicians who should be in power are republicans.

2023-01-18 10:36:58 AM
santos in the steering committee makes sense. republicans are like dogs in a care. None of them know how to drive but they love traveling through the land of lies and fantasy.

They have a master at the helm. OK, he isn't a master, because his lies are so obvious and easily uncovered, but he likes to push the pedal to the metal when it comes to lying. All republicans/christians love that.

How do Republicans rationalize their anti-drag queen hysteria and the lionization of George Santos?

Personally I'd feed him to a lion. First time in his life he'd be useful for something.
