Robin Lehner overcame substance abuse problems, only now to land in financial problems.

If I could have back all of the money I've spent on gambling, hookers and blow, I would spend it on gambling, hookers and blow.

He spent $1.7 million on a rare snake collection.  For his reptile farm.

He is: the strangest man in the world.

God these people are absolute idiots.

All of the major professional leagues offer a litany of programs and help for saving money, wise investing, etc. Some of the leagues, like the NFL, require rookies to sit through classes on this shiat.

$1.2 million dollars on snakes?! WHAT?

He's made roughly $32 million in his career and he's got debt of $50 million.

Good god.

I'm finding out more and more that the key to financial success isn't to make lots of money, just don't spend money you don't have. Our society makes it way too easy to lease and pay later

Just read through that article. I don't even know what to say

"...displaying them at his exotic reptile farm in Missouri."

"The snakes began to breed in an "unsupervised and uncontrolled" manner, which, according to Lehner's lawyers, caused them to lose monetary value."

Wow. Just wow.

I don't know if there's some kind of snake pedigree, interbreeding of similar species, or what. I can handle a gentle snake, but I've never had a good reason to.

How does anyone lose 50m that fast? It doesn't seem possible.

.
Lehner and his father are listed as principal members in a Nevada business license filing for Solar-code

.
Oh, yeah.

.

This is the first case I've read about with an athlete in Vegas going broke. It seems largely unrelated to Vegas' usual vices. But I have often wondered if Vegas now becoming home to two professional sports teams, and probably three and four in the near future, will result in more cases of athletes who play there going broke.

It seems to me that of all the places to be young, dumb and have lots of money to lose, Vegas seems like the place someone young and dumb could lose lots of money the fastest.

People can blow their money anywhere, but yeah, Las Vegas is extra gross in that regard.

Went down a bit of hole on this out of curiosity about and an article from Sweden has some additional details. It mentions that Lehner stole anacondas??

Lehner was also accused of stealing "a collection of anacondas from Renick Reptiles (and also taking a collection of king pythons that Lehner refused to pay for)," according to Missouri's local ABC station KMIZ. It is not clear exactly how many snakes it must have involved.
