Michael Vick was given money hand over fist to not be as good as Lamar Jackson has been thusfar in his career. Contracts. Endorsements. Basically the whole of ESPN (before it even became SECSPN) was all Vick slurping. All the time.

Jackson hasn't even been given a long term contract by his own farking team.

Frankly, Lamar should be taking care of his own chicken, not worrying about Vick dogging him.

/muck!

Oops.  RGIII is not Vick.  Sounds as if confused Dr.Fey was briefly confused.

Because if there is one person in the NFL known for durability during their career it's Vick.

Maybe go torture some dogs and let the adults talk?

The sound of a kennel door being shut by Vick after the dogs have already escaped.

If the Ravens hadn't cheaped out and paid the man already they wouldn't have had this issue

This is why all the owners were mad at the Browns for giving Watson that contract. Now even better players are going to want the same thing

RG3 is pretty solid college football guy on ESPN. He's also right that Lamar needs to look out for Lamar. The franchise tag for a QB is just over $45 million for next season. Why would you risk that? If he stays somewhat healthy he can get a big deal for the 24 season.

That; Snyder is just incompetent as a human being in general.

They can pay him everything he wants and it won't stop him from getting injured just in time for the stretch run. I wonder what the Ravens will decide to do, either they pay him a huge contract to keep him from leaving (and have him sit on IR every December for a few years) or they let him walk and they have to start over with a new QB and no receivers to help him. What a great situation for everyone else in the division and conference.

I'll never forget watching that game and screaming at the TV "Take him out!  He's getting killed out there."

Shanny said he kept him in because he wanted to be out there, which is a really dumb thing to say.  Of course he wants to be out there.  He has to want to be out there.  You're the coach of a team that bet the next 5 years entirely on RGIII.  You need to do the smart thing and not kill the guy that the entire franchise bet on.

Shanny already had a reputation as a guy who kills players after Terrel Davis.

Lamar's looking out for his future, and frankly the Ravens are too.  If you're hoping to get another decade or so out of him, you're not gonna fark up his leg over a long shot playoff bid.  Let him rest, let him recover, and hope the competition isn't as top-heavy next year.

2023-01-16 1:45:56 PM
Lamar should have signed that $49M a year deal with $140M guaranteed they offered earlier.  Now he will get tagged and if he gets hurt worse then he's SOL.

That's insensitive. You wouldn't even treat a dog that way.

And I'm not saying he was wrong to not play

Seems like the opposite would make more sense.

Not playing now likely does reduce the value of the contract he can get now (he will be developing a reputation for injuries, having ended his last three seasons injured).

If he had his big deal, this game certainly wouldn't cause him to be cut or lose it. And it isn't like they were likely to reach the Super Bowl anyway.

/good on any NFL player not pressuring themselves to play injured

It's tough to give a running quarterback a ton of guaranteed money. I don't know how much they might have tried to negotiate though.
