Heat up a can of Nalley's (or similar) chili on another burner while making Kraft mac n' cheese per box directions. As the chili is heating up you can thicken it with whatever cheese you like (pepper jack is nice). Stir the chili into the mac n' cheese and now you've got some quick and easy chili mac to enjoy on an occasion when you were too tired to make anything else and wanted a belly full of comfort food.

I routinely put smoked sausage and peas in my macaroni and cheese. Been doing it for ages.

ketchup in it just sounds wrong. but ketchup on it? yes, please. extra bonus points for ketchup + hot sauce or matouk's calypso.

in fact, the tiny west indies places in Brooklyn offer only 2 kinds condiment squirt bottles: ketchup, and a housemade calypso analogue.

agreed, hotdogs should really be right up there with tuna, just not at the same time.

i vote yes on spicy brown mustard, gulden's specifically. when i used to buy food at panera i'd always add half a packet of that to the broccoli cheddar soup, made it SO MUCH better!

so a little spicy brown or dijon in the mac n cheese? yes please

Other than a bunch of extra shredded cheese I typically add broccoli florets and pan fried slices of kielbasa. Bulks it up nicely so I usually get two meals out of a box of deluxe mac and cheese.

I mix the cheese with some sour cream and cream cheese and if it's just for me some Trader Joe's Green Dragon sauce. I never use the boxed suff, it's easy to cook pasta.

I don't know how "Non-Conventional" those are. Mac & cheese is a great base for a lot of things.

We do tuna a lot but we've also done shrimp, langastino or lobster. We also do Taco Mac & Cheese. You can to it with ground beef or pork or chicken or what ever meat you want and season with taco seasoning. Plain Chorizo is good too. Throw in a can of diced tomatoes with chilis and it's delicious.

Can also get a can of Hormel Chili and mix that in. We've also done various types of sausage - Italian, smoked, chorizo again. And veggies like broccoli, asparagus, green beans. Of course there's bacon too. Really anything that goes well with cheese. The possibilities are endless!

I've done a kimchi grilled cheese, but not mac and cheese. Bet it'd be tasty though.

Growing up, my sister would mix applesauce with her mac and cheese. I always thought she was weird, but one night at dinner, some applesauce and mac and cheese mixed on my plate. I won't go out of my way to produce that concoction, but it was surprisingly not bad.

she also puts ketchup on scrambled eggs, like my mom. but the applesauce thing........

it's pretty good. as part of a falafel sandwich anyway. i think it's lantana? there are a fark ton of huus brands now

ayup, that's the one! they also have a white bean hummus that's pretty good. at first, Tarzhe was the only place carrying the brand, but in the last few years I saw it at ShopRite etc.

I love olives and so I cannot imagine adding them to mac n cheese.
Like maybe if you added roasted red pepper puree ... Now there's an add in I could get behind (Ajvar) and used those nice sun-dried olives or big fat juicy green ones... Maybe then but not just in KD alone that's nasty
