$13m for a FOUR STAR recruit?

Okay. This is just money laundering now.

They are totally desperate. Dan left that program with absolutely nothing and the boosters demand a winning team.

Napier is a great coach but I think he's going to find out just how f*cked up Gatorville is.

Florida had higher ranked players than Oregon State pretty much across the board except a few positions. (Of course the QB situation really hurt them)

Just saying, Florida schools don't know what "nothing" actually is.

But I do hope this is a sign that they just toss money around to try to fix their problems.

The booster they were counting on to pay for the NIL contract is named Hugh Hathcock?

That's overcompensating a bit isn't it?

Meanwhile, Michigan is under NCAA investigation because Jim Harbaugh bought lunch for two recruits at a local restaurant popular with students.

$13 million in cash? Totally cool! $30 for lunch? A travesty!

Wait.., who was promised the $13m? I thought it was decided that college football players were not getting paid. Why does this article sound like this kid from CA just signed a contract to play football at a college for $13m?

The boosters promised a $13 mil Name/ Image/ Likeness contract. They reneged on it.

They need to update their rules for the new paradigm, but Harbaugh was a farking idiot for violating the rules. He has no effing excuse for it.

And as far as I understand the bigger problem was he lied to the NCAA about it. Once you do that, the value is irrelevant.

How is giving a kid a bunch of dirty money going to launder it?

Pfft... amateurs.

Give it a few years. Once UM finds a way to turn cocaine into NIL money, the game is over, baby...

You're not wrong in the spirit of the law sense but the thing that I really like is that thar be some misleading going on here when Jim Harbaugh is in trouble for supposedly giving misleading statements. Love it, in fact. Michigan Man™ integrity!

College athletes have been getting paid for years.

Maybe a car, rent money for mom and some spending money (which I thought was a violation, and subjects the program a possible suspension) but $13m? That's NFL money.

I obviously didn't click the link due to the source, but I thought this had something to do with Florida spending money for a player and getting caught.

... who exactly are they paying for this?  it's not like the players are allowed to receive proceeds like that.

Welcome to 2021.

Players can be paid by independent organizations for the use of their name, image, or likeness.

They can't be paid by the team. But this organization made up of boosters can pay a student for the use of their name, image, and likeness of they play with a specific team.
