On one hand, I hate that it took something like this for such a wonderful charitable endeavor to get this kind of attention, but on the other, any good that can come from this should be celebrated. A lot of kids in his hometown will benefit from this, and he would be pleased as punch over that, I'm sure.

You aren't lying, I went to go look at Technic sets for my BIL for Christmas and there was one of a scale Lamborghini, $849.99.

In all seriousness though, it's more than toys but summer camps and more activities, especially with these funds.

it doesn't always take something so tragic.  Remember when the Bengals beat the Ravens a few years ago that got the Bills in the playoffs?  Bills fans went berzerk, donating boatloads of cash to Andy Dalton's charity.

Just made a small donation.  I am terrified that Damar will not be alive to see how everyone has come together, and to use all the funds to do so much good to so many children.

The three hosts of ESPN's NFL update show (forgot its exact name) said a prayer over live TV.  That's pretty powerful.

Please get well Damar.

Update on the page:

"*UPDATE: This fundraiser was initially established to support a toy drive for Damar's community, sponsored by the Chasing M's Foundation.

However, it has received renewed support in light of Damar's current battle, and we can't thank all of you enough. Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us.

If you would like to show your support and contribute to Damar's community initiatives and his current fight, this is the place to do so. This is the only current fund being used by the Hamlin Family.

Again, thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and generous support.

Damar created The Chasing M's Foundation to use as a vehicle to bring lasting impact to his community. The foundation supports toy drives, back-to-school drives, kids camps, and more."

Sounds like the scope of the foundations mission has expanded. A farker in another thread made mention of how many schools and youth athletic groups do not have AED's available. Might be a good use of some of this money to provide them.

It'd be enough to buy at least $100 in toys for every child in the western half of Pennsylvania.

He didn't have to give anything. Hundreds of players haven't, but many big names have from George Kittle to Tom Brady and Russ Wilson. I appreciate everything they get, I'm not going to biatch about what I think they "should have" gotten for the charity from someone. The fact that they cared AT ALL, is all I care about.

Well, it would go into a trust that could be run off interest and do that anyway.

I've been seeing that, it's pretty cool.

Not that it matters - at all - but the game cancellation did effect pretty much every fantasy championship. In mine we are planning to donate it as well.

The point is, Brady gave what is considered a very sizeable sum.if money that most of us could not afford to donate, while Mr Whiney Mc Biatchface has the gall to criticize the donation as paltry.  I can't stand Tom Brady one iota as a Dolpihins fan, but I don't fault the guy one bit for a five-digit donation to Hamlin's charity.  More power to him for that.
