I would've been happy if sports betting was legalized before all these megacorps took over everything. Now it just seems evil. Like in NY, they're giving weed licenses to people who had been negatively impacted by the laws before (supposedly). Why not something like that with gambling?

of course it was pete rose.  as much as he wants to get into the hall and keeps saying he's changed and 'sorry', he can't manage to not keep pulling stunts like this to get attention

I'm assuming that it's very quietly understood that he'll get in the year after he dies, probably with very little fanfare or celebration as you mentioned.  Banned for life is reasonable given what he did.  However keeping the all time hit leader out is not a good look considering just what a big record it is.

It had been announced long ago that he was designated to place the first legal bet in Ohio, specifically Cincinnati.  So this is not a shock.

But I still say if MLB continues its embrace of betting and does nothing to any of the Asterisks for blatantly cheating, let Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson into the Hall.
