They should have kept Playstation Vue.  I miss that sh*t.

It was the best streaming service to me when it first dropped.

I wish they'd add crunchyroll to a PlayStation plus tier.

playstation actually had a TV show you could only watch on the PS3, Power I think it was called? maybe Powers?

anyway, after the bore-fest that is the PS4 and the lawn-ornament size of the new console, there's no way they'll get me to buy a PS5

Great, so now I can watch TV on something that I have to boot up and wait for it to download updates before I can even see what's on.

Foreign to me.  My offspring have migrated to gaming on computers.

Does a game console have anything better to offer over a PC?

i know a guy who works for Playstation.  He at one time authoritively declared that the PS4 would be the last console they'd ever release, and in fact didn't even want to release that one but were already too far down the rabbit hole.   I stopped talking to that guy.

Your PlayStation may be dying. (seriously, the boot should take 10 seconds max.)

Does this greater scope of products mean they'll stop the silly "Play-stay-shone" pronunciation in their ads?

I'm a PCer, but I can see the appeal of never having to check if my rig is going to handle a new game.

Well, shaders come precompiled so games actually run smoothly day one on ps5, whereas us PC gamers get to wait for a patch a week later even though shader compilation stutter has been a well known and documented issue by now.

On the other hand, PC generally supports native resolution without the need for dynamic resolution scaling (though also offers the option for it if needed) higher res texture/refresh rate options, better ray tracing options than those available in console builds (if light behaving like it should matters to you that is)..and in most games quite a thriving mod scene.

That too. Games should *just work* on a console.
No need for seeking out driver or such updates (though system firmware updates are a thing) either.

You can play as two players on the same screen.

The PS3 advertised six controllers on one console and that was the very last time I heard couch multiplayer used as a selling point for a console. Unless you're REALLY into fighting games, I can probably count on one hand the number of worthwhile couch games since the PS4.

I didn't take Farkers as the type to re-buy Madden every year. Should I reconsider?

When I first got a PS2, I became used to using the controller as a DVD remote. Worked well when I had a Netflix DVD mail subscription. Except for Mulholland Drive. Stupid no chapter breaks.

oh god dude, you would think so. But no. It gets offended that I put it on an HDMI switch even though they still only make TVs with 3 ports in the back of them. Then you have to press the PS button again, then it shows the big PS and does the 10 second load. THEN it starts to fuss because I have an HDD attached to the USB port, and because it didn't start properly, it needs to check the external storage, yet another bar.

//Then and only then do I get to do the fun song and dance with a browser and usb stick to jailbreak it and play free games

Tell me you don't own a Switch without et c., et c.

Also this is less true on all modern consoles if you consider smaller digital-only games, as well.

Couch multiplayer's doing fine.
