That's one way to get the number of reported cases down to zero.

And as we've learned from Russia, not publishing numbers is the best way to hide numbers. In no way does it allow the public to let their imagination run wild or let anyone else control the narrative.

Uhhh other countries have fared better with denser populations.  China is just a good example of the pros and cons of totalitarianism.

In my area you check the daily covid data and some days it lists zero deaths, other days it say "Suppressed".
Very comforting.

It's not just totalitarianism, there is also a deep-seated racism and its attendant insecurity.  Han Chinese insist on being seen as superior, downwards onto other ethnicities i China and outwards towards the globe.  They have insisted on their much less effective home brewed vaccine over much more effective foreign vaccines. The only way they'd ever use our vaccines is if we could secretly package them to look like Chinese vaccines so they could save face. They are an insanely arrogant people, and not just their leadership. I've worked over there and heard all the nonsense, you wouldn't believe how programmed they are to believe in Han superiority and western inferiority. The racism of ordinary Han towards other Chinese ethnicities and, especially other Asian, nations is a thing to behold. Our GOP doesn't hold a candle to them. And I'm talking man in the street, not just the PLA goons. The problem for supremacists is that they believe their own press and eventually hit a wall, as it were.

Who is this anyone else? This is China. You say zero, therefore it is zero. Or "many", or "a lot", or "some", or "nothing concerning". Anyone else you listen to has to whisper whatever contradicting narrative China sets. Otherwise they take a field trip to talk to some nice people.
