(CNN)   Oh, you're into Pickleball? Cool, cool. I was into Pickleball, too, before it got so mainstream. I'm playing Padel now, but you've probably never heard of it   (cnn.com) divider line

Archery Pickleball sounds awesome.  Like skeet shooting for the bow and arrow set.

My college roommate and I invented dustpan hockey.  Played in a dorm room, you sit on chairs facing each other with legs of the chairs being the goal.  You're only 6-8' feet apart so you have to be quick to avoid getting hit with a tennis ball smashed by a heavy metal dustpan.  Only one other person has played a game and after I delivered an overhead smash to his nuts, he didn't want to play any more.

Which is actually a thing.  Shooting at skeet targets with a bow.  And yeah, there are people that can do it - plenty of videos on it

/no those people are not me
//but it's one of those niche things
///discs are larger and slower launched
////but I'd still defy most to hit one with an arrow

I don't need any more f*cking racquets

I have plenty of tennis and racquetball ones that are sitting unused

Ah yes, the old sport that the English and French used to compete at.  The French had a couple really rough seasons.

Doubles separated by a net hitting the ball at each other, not racquetball style where competitors face the same way playing against the wall.  It's just in padel you can also use the court's walls in-play whereas you cannot in other similar games (e.g. tennis).

uh, FTA: "Today, more than 50 years since its inception, padel has 25 million players in more than 90 countries around the world." It's just new-ish to the anglosphere.

I trust you're traditionalists and use an actual goat carcass instead of that modern insult to the game of using a ball.

I prefer full  contact ping pong. You need a ping pong table, paddles, balls, and some sort of barrier to put under the table. The object is to hit your opponent. To start one player serves and the other dodges (hopefully). Both players must be within feet of the end of the table for service. The ball does not have to bounce on the table. The ball can strike any surface, on either side of the table and playing field, any number of times.

So long as the ball stays in motion players can move anywhere on their side of the table. If a ball stops, the ball is given to the other player and he serves. Note: When a ball comes to a rest you have up to 3 seconds to pick it up and put it back in motion. Bouncing the ball on your paddle counts as being in motion. You may not deliberately and directly hit the ball under the table (thus the barricade). First player to the agreed upon score (13 and 21 are most common scores) wins. You do not need to win by two or more strokes.

Playing field note: Ideally his is  played in a somewhat confined space with walls on three sides to allow for the ricochet of ball. In such playing conditions you can deliberately bounce the ball off another surface to try and get it to go under the table. If a Player is hidden under a table and loses three consecutive points while thus hidden he forfeits the game.
