That's the big thing going around out here this morning: if there was a red flag that scared off the Giants, why don't the Mets seem worried? Lots of speculation that Farhan never wanted to spend that much money and went with the first excuse to back out. Or someone above him. Real concern that the Giants can't land a premium free agent right now.
It's a weird morning, that's for sure.

As a Nationals fan, I'm jealous you get to start the season with hope. We are left wishing for our group of scrappy nobodies to develop and prove the world wrong.  I'm happy they did it in 2019.  But I'd trade our position for the Mets in a heartbeat.

I think so, too. But right now, another year of trying to match on field talent with strategy and a bigger coaching staff doesn't look so good.

Eh. I've seen the Niners make two super bowls and some conference championships in the last decade. I've seen them win rings when I was little. And the Mets just had a real good year.

Meibrys Viloria is a much funner name to say than Aaron Judge.


Meibrys Viloria is awesome if only because his name makes me think of The Pixies' "Velouria." I know nothing about him, except that should be his walk up music if he ever gets there. Kudos to him on Frank Black's sentiment that "I adore ya." If Frank likes you, you're alright in my book.

Strangely enough I just looked it up and the Mets had the exact same number of wins from 02-10 when they had a top 5 payroll every year and 11-19 when they didn't. Heck they even made a WS on the shoestring budget. I chose those years because they're the same amount of time and the only payroll data I could find went back to 02

I get the feeling teams would rather be fans of San Diego where they "try" and fail a lot (not last year of course) than the Devil Rays who are almost always good on a shoestring budget.
