I'm not really surprised either that Kissinger is still alive or that he's saying this.

What I'm finding amazing is that Trump didn't appoint him Secretary of State, or a military chief, or to SCOTUS, or to his legal defense team. That last one would have been an oddball but imagine Trump ordering him to carpet bomb the prosecution and you can see where I'm coming from.

Henry Kissinger has been dreaming of dying in nuclear fire and taking an honor guard to trumpet his arrival in Hell for years. He's been thwarted each time, but maybe THIS time, he'll get that nuclear Armageddon that he's hoped for, and the screams of the wasted planet who made fun of him will be the last sweet sound he hears before greeting his just reward, grinning as he knows he earned it, and considers all that pain and suffering worth it.

Even John Bolton can't match Kissinger's bloodlust. Anything that will cause instability and chaos, thus insuring he always has a job whispering in the ear of kings is what he will continue to do, until finally the curse that keeps his corpse animated shatters under the weight of all his sins.

Not particularly.  He's a sociopath, he knows it, we know it - everyone knows it.  Expediency of the moment is his god - whether that means dispatching a nasty note or nuking half the planet.  I'll just go ahead and say this again, like I do in every Kissinger thread.  Anyone who lets him anywhere near even the basis for operational planning should be shot and dumped into a ditch for criminal stupidity.  Background?  Analysis of motivations and likely trends?  Sure, but with a grain of salt - he's an ammoral shiat and his responses will be colored by that.  Keep it in mind and he can be useful.  Response/Ops?  Don't let that guy within 400 miles.  You're supping with the devil - lonnnnnnnnng spoon yo

I read Kissinger's book "Diplomacy" a while back.  He really, really, really likes the post-Napoleonic period in Europe when Metternich kept the peace via balance-of-power machinations, and he thinks that maintaining the balance of power is the key to solving every international problem.  It fit with the post-WII environment he was working in, too, when the Soviet Union and the USA had a balance of power and he could do his Metternichy shuttling around to keep it all from blowing up.

And that's it.  Those are the glasses he sees the world through, and he's incapable of seeing them through any other lens.
