I've seen a number of broken IKEA bed frames. They aren't designed with 300 lb Americans in mind.  I've used some of their components to build beds, the steel girders and the mattress supports in particular are great.  They could americanize the designs by using three girders, six legs and reducing the spacing of the supports.
