So we turned their brains into what they are now?

At one point did we replace Chihuahua brains with a handful live bees?

I think the research is more, "We know this about dogs. Let's scientifically prove it and see if it's applicable to humans" and less, "OMG! look what we discovered about dogs!"  But that never stopped a green-light.

"Harvey's two brain cells are in a constant battle for third place, but he's a good boy."

My wife's conclusion about our #3 mutt.

Domestic dog lineages reveal genetic drivers of behavioral diversification

There are lots of figures. These 2 might give some overview of the analysis

Last I heard the "different breeds have different personalities" line was called out as boolsheet.

Given that human slavery has existed throughout history, I am surprised that there is no evidence that some culture engaged in controlled breeding of their slaves to produce ones with certain desired characteristics.

Slave breeding in the US took off after importing slaves was banned. in 1808, however the efforts appear just to have been produce more slaves for sale, not selectively breeding them for specific characteristics.

You mean hunting dogs behave differently toward small animals than herding dogs do ?  Shocking!

Dogs eat shiat.  Cat turds a favorite. Is there a more disgusting animal than a dog?

My border collie mix has been trying to herd anything white and fluffy since she was 2 months old. It was hilarious watching her herd two Great Pyrenees that outweighed her by close to 100lbs at the dog park.

It's been impressive how dominant border collie behavior has been in the mixes I've seen.  I had a border collie/husky mix, and huskies are also known for strong personalities, but that dog was clearly running the border collie operating system.

Mine is a pit bull/border collie mix. She also got the vocalization you get from pitties. The herding thing has been apparent from the beginning though.

I started writing a series of stories based on Atlantis' breeding program which results in the Zodiac classifications. Then I realized I really didn't enjoy writing.

Doesn't matter. They're all couch hounds now.
