He lost much worse in 2020 then he ever did before, but sure Socialist Jan. The grift is just too good I suppose. $27 here, $27 there, it all adds up.

Why not best of the best?  87 YO Joe Biden and 114 YO Bernie as VP?

Why not save a lot of money and not run any Democrats in 2024?

Why not admit, "We don't have any good young people."

Democrats.  The only party on the planet that can lose to Republicans.

Technically that's 113 years old Biden and 114 years old Bernie.

The DNC is cooking up an elaborate scheme no doubt to STEAL his votes and HAND them to Hillary.

Kind of a big caveat.

You did.  The overwhelming majority of candidates in 2020 were under 65.

Yeah, you guys are right.
Let's skip the charismatic firebrand that looks like the face of future Americans and nominate another old white man that thinks Republicans can be reasoned with.

So far the only thing that AOC has demonstrated any aptitude for is fundraising vast sums of money for her D+30 district and twitter burns.

There is a lot of "talking the the talk" and zero "walking the walk"

Sorry you are so preoccupied with the fact that she's just telling you what you want to hear that you can't realize that she has done nothing in 4 years to back that up.

I think the main reason Biden has not offered not to run is that Kamala Harris has no charisma on the national stage. I wish she did, I wish she wasn't the Right's new Hate Magnet, I wish she hadn't done and said some inartful things - but this is the situation we live in.

If she was Obama 2.0, he'd have announced his one-termery sometime in February 2021.

A progressive President is not a viable President, without a firm base of progressives at the local and state level.  There's too much emphasis on the Presidential election as a backstop and not enough emphasis on building a broad pool of future candidates for higher office.  If there is a broad pool of future progressive candidates and a large support structure of progressive elected officials, the Democrats are more likely to choose a Presidential candidate that reflects those values.

Yeah, but when you've got ten of them running against each other to compete with the one guy in the room with national name recognition and an established base they're not going to win.

I know this. You know this. Most sensible people know that the only way to build political power is from the ground up. From school boards to city councils and state houses. Run for everything. God help us even Republicans know this.

But, it's hard work and it's a long term thing and why not just focus all your attention on running the President.

Yes there is, and the DCCC has done everything in their power to make sure they don't win.
Right-wing superPACs were literally funding the primary campaigns of centrists in safe blue seats where progressives had a shot.
We just lost the house because Sean Maloney decided to fark over progressives in New York.

This is why I vote for the Green Party.  They do nothing but run some guy for president every 4 years, but my support for that guy shows how iconoclastic I am.

I love what he stands for, but he's had his day (as has Dump). Let's see some new blood, and I'm not talking about a McKinsey alum here.

Having said that, getting anyone even moderately progressive on the ticket is going to be an uphill battle on the order of climbing Mt. Everest. There is no greater enemy to The Powers That Be than progressives. The money people don't give a shiat which letter is after your name on the ballot, so long as you'll play ball with them. If you won't, you're first in their crosshairs.

That's a recipe for disaster. She does not have the votes. Let me repeat that: SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE VOTES. Progressives don't even represent the majority of the Democratic Party, let alone the American people. The Congressional Progressive Caucus has roughly 100 out of 435 House members and 1 out of 100 Senators.

2022-12-09 9:17:37 AM
With the DNC moving away from caucuses, Bernie has zero chance. If you go back and look at 2016, you'll see that he won very few primaries, just caucuses where a small group of enthusiastic supports could carry the day.

If there is an open primary (and I don't think there will be because I think Biden runs again) she should run. She won't win, but it's good experience.
