I just feel sad when i think about the guy.  A million opportunities to become a better person and grow up, a large group of friends who made those changes and would have supported him 100 percent and who love him, parents who are saints, and he just does not care about himself or the people he hurts.

I can still laugh repeatedly at the classic CKY skate videos and the jackass antics. But bams entire adulthood past age 30 is just repeated, unrepentant selfishness.

Brandon Novak managed to turn his life around.  BRANDON NOVAK.  Of all the people in that crew, I think we all expected Novak to pass a long time ago, and he managed to sober up, get clean, and get into a position where he can help people so there's hope for Bam yet.  He needs to want to change.  His friends will be there for him when he's ready as long as he doesn't push them away any further, but he hasn't hit the bottom yet.

They didn't put cocaine up his nose, they didn't feed him beer 24/7.   Sure they benefited as well, but him really starting to screw up didn't happen until well past the age where they were going to be able to prevent him from going to bars, travelling the world and getting smashed every day.  Unless they were going to do a conservatorship or something, it would have been impossible to stop.

I'm honestly not sure he ever will.  Bam outright resents Novak for getting clean and not partying with him anymore.  Bam doesn't want to grow up and he has too many enablers letting him.

Yes. Being a pro skater got him on Jackass, which was arguably the biggest commercial hit MTV ever had as far as original programming. Between the show, the movies (which Bam was listed as a producer for 2 of them), the spin-off shows, DVDs, his other ventures, and MTV/Paramount picking up the medical costs, Bam made some serious bank.

One thing he does have over many of the other Jackass cast members, he (or his parents) were pretty smart with his money.

I'm not sure where you're going with this but I stand by my assertion that Bam's parents raised him in a consequence-free environment and because he's an addict, he doesn't have a single shred of humility or self-awareness. Why do parents always seem to get such a pass?

Dude is going to leave Las Vegas. There is no intention of doing the right thing and being an adult, even about his health. He's just going to party until something grabs him and pulls him down and that's it.

We should stop looking. The attention he gets is part of the kick and goes some way to pay for all this.

Let me +1 this.

Parents literally pulled him out of high school rather than let him face any discipline.

He was a douche (talented skater, but a douche) back then as well. And yeah, his parents helped with a lot of that.

No. He got on jackass for the cky videos. He was a semi-pro pretty decent skater. Jackass propelled his stardom and got him on tony hawk pro skater and on skate tours. His jackass and cky stuff made him famous.
