Going out with an audience still in masks,

I'd forgotten about Costner's charts. Good to see (?) that comeback.

I'll miss him. He's grown on me. He's no Jon Stewart, but then he shouldn't've been. It took him a few years (as it did for Jon) but he made the show his own.

Never really minded him, thought he was always decent, but he really won me over during covid lockdown. Dont know if it was him being more laid back or what, but his home reports became a daily watch and I've loved the guy ever since.

He was one of the better late night hosts during the lockdown.

This wasn't as funny as the Jon Stewart or The Colbert Report farewells, but man, was it touching.

Good summary of his time on the show as a whole.

I thought the Covid at home shows were a lot better than the studio audience shows.

I didn't really think I'd be sad but I am...
Great guy, better than most Americans.

Meh, unlike Stewart he goes out having discovered or established zero new comic talents, and unlike Colbert there's almost no bits, routines or characters to leave as a legacy for new comics (or a new show) to pick up and run with.  He was a man for his times, I guess?

I just wish he'd apologized to the state and people of Louisiana while he had the chance. That bit he and Roy did about not passing the "anti-slavery" state constitutional amendment was funny and all, but it lacked context. And in his epilogue he went on and on about how his "Between the Scenes" videos were all about context and how important that is.

While some of the voters no doubt did vote against it for racist reasons, many voted against it because the bill's author, black State Representative Edmond Jordan (D), begged them to because racists in the legislature in the committee had altered it to do the opposite of what its title says and what its original intent was. It would've enshrined prison involuntary servitude aka the Prison-Industrial Complex aka the School-to-Prison Pipeline into the State Constitution. Jordan said to vote against it this time, and he intends to try again next year (when they do their state elections for Legislature and Governor) with a clean version.

He and Roy and The Daily Show writers and producers slandered a state unjustly. He should've apologized and corrected the record before leaving.

It was great to have all the correspondents doing their thing one last time, but they missed one: Lewis Black and his "Back in Black" segments.

I used to play a drinking game while watching. Every time he'd say "It's like when..." as he explained his joke to the audience. I stopped after developing cirrhosis.

What he said about Black women is something I knew, but didn't know that I knew -- well said.

Trevor Noah was always too urbane and erudite for American television. It was clever of him to make it work for so long. I have enjoyed The Daily Show since the Lizz Winstead era, and will miss him as host. It will be interesting to see where his talents take him next.
