I've seen plenty of nature documentaries and know what a crocodile attacking a zebra or antelope looks like. No one is jumping into that to save anyone. They just don't want the kids to see someone get their face ripped off as their arms are being twisted off their body and their torso is being split apart in a tug of war. I would describe croc attacks in more detail but they are too horrible to think about so I won't.

How does Disney get these promo shots with no crowds clogging up the view? Maybe they take the pics on days when the entire park is down for cleaning, but I don't think they have any of those days, so maybe they're just photoshopped.

Judging by the shadows, that looks to be pretty early in the morning. It probably wouldn't be hard to close a small section for a well-planned photo shoot. For something like that they could be done in 30 minutes, or less.

They just close off a section, sorta like when they film tv shows there.

Rule number one, don't become the second victim. There are people who would instinctually jump in to try and save someone without thinking about this rule.

However, instead of having this be part of the hidden training for the drivers, make it an explicit announcement to the people on the ride. If you don't obey the rules of staying in the vehicle, we will leave you. If that isn't enough warning for some people, nothing is.

This isn't that far off if you go with the highest price tickets for Disney skipping the line etc and compare to the lowest price safaris.

That seems like pretty standard practice for any emergency situation.

You don't want more people who are untrained/unprotected going into a dangerous situation where they will become more victims and potentially a hazard for rescuers.

This type of stuff is drilled in rescue situations everywhere.

If you are a lifeguard you are trained to prevent other people from going in after someone and to also know how to separate yourself from someone in the event that they panic and start dragging you down.

If you are a rescuer at a fire, industrial accident, oxygen deficient area, or any other type of similar situation you prevent people from going in after someone. That person will likely be overcome by smoke, chemicals, lack of oxygen and just be another person who needs rescue.

I was there one day when a lightning strike took out a giraffe. We didn't see it hit the giraffe, but there was a super close bolt of lightning, and then we come around a corner or something minutes later and there's a giraffe out cold on the ground.  The driver was like "Looks like one of our giraffes isn't feeling well, and there's one of the vets to help it get better." A day or so later I spotted a blurb in the paper about the death.
