Howdy folks. The gif above is what we're currently hoping to prevent El Gato from attempting. We're still concerned about his weak bones and his current chicken leg as he builds his strength back up. But other than that it's been really great getting our cat back closer to normal and he's started to jump up on (low) things again. He seems to be responding well to the chemo so he's got more energy and is clearly feeling more like himself, despite the leg still being a work in progress. So we're all happy and he seems to be enjoying life more so I think he's happy too.

I hope you are all well on this Thursday in December.

One of our cats injured herself somehow so we made sure she had some way to safely get up and down from our beds and her usual window spots. We bought some various cat steps (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BYQ0YM, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MR2J454, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081GFNJQK) and used stools and sturdy boxes everywhere. Turns out, to our surprise, cats will take the easy way if given the option.

The one in 2000 when he ran against David Duke and Pat Buchanan for the Reform Party ticket?

I know you mean 2016, but I hate how the press goes along with his lie that 2016 was his first campaign and that he won on his first try like some kind of genius.

I ended up quitting my job last week. Partly, to get a business plan finished so I can be up and running by January, and I need to be spending all my time on that. Partly, my kitchen manager quit last week, after getting involved in an accident during a high speed police chase which started in another state. He wasn't the one getting chased, that is. But he had hinted he was tired of the place and ready to quit, partly because of how the company was run. And after two weeks of trying to cover his absence, I got a really good appreciation of why he was eager to leave.

I had planned on staying there saving money until spring, when I would move to another state. But a couple weeks ago I was informed that certain regulations relaxed, which would make it much much easier to start this company, taking just a couple months instead of several years getting all the paperwork and approvals finished. This is a huge game changer for getting started, as I had previously given up on the idea as too complicated to spend years on. Now, this eliminates 90% of the headaches I was running away from.

It will still be lots and lots of hard work, but years worth of red tape just disappeared for me.

I hadn't planned on quitting my day job for another month, but my final check covers next months rent, plus enough to take my drone pilot exam, plus enough to incorporate a new company. And since there's a temp agency that pays daily, in the same plaza where I donate plasma for an extra $140 per week, I can easily cover the rent of my hovel in just a couple days, if necessary.

I have already made a bunch of big purchases, early Christmas presents to myself, gathering all the music and video equipment I needed for a multimedia cover band. So there's nothing I'm itching to spend my money on, except for the expensive drones and sensor equipment which I plan on getting someone else to pay for.

So, by donating plasma and day labor a couple times a week, I will be able to coast for a few months finishing my business plan(s) and landing a huge client. That's actually easier than I make it sound, utilizing the contacts I made as a mild mannered smallville journalist, but that's a long story I'll save until my plan actually works.

And, without getting into the drama behind it, the experience of quitting my job has helped in refining and defining my new business plan. Like, that started a train of thought which really helped me focus on the bigger picture.

I'm so optimistic about 2023 that I'm going now to smoke a bowl and enjoy a glass of strawberry mead. And write my business plan, unfettered by needing to show up to work.

And I hope things are groovy for all of you, as well.

Thanks. We just starting to look at options. For space reasons I really want something for the bed that's long and narrow. He's got no problem now getting up on the bed, but we make sure that we take him off so he doesn't jump down.

And for the record about the easy way, on the fateful night that he made a basically 'regular' jump down from a stool and broke his leg, I had set up some temporary steps for him to get down since he'd been sick and frail. He got it right for the first step down but then he turned right and jumped rather than going left to the next lowest platform.

And again, thanks for the links to help start the search.
