I love this story. My wife and I volunteer at a couple of food pantries and I am always astounded by:

1.  The number of people in my area that go without food on a regular basis.

2.  The amount of food that is thrown out every day.

These people are true heroes.

There is a company called imperfect foods out here. I wanted to get a jorb with them doing deliveries but they had a "must be able to lift a 50# box " stipulation , and I was like "are they expecting perfectly healthy folks to pick up the box after I deliver it ? " .  ( I cannot take a chance with 50# after i had 2 discs go out  few years back )
And Sprouts and a few other local markets have a call out every morning " Food Share is here , please make sure your departments items are ready for pickup" .

Anyhow- good on these folks

They could use 2 boxes @ the DC . Cargo van , 50 deliveries - easy to have 100 boxes inside.
Only 1 box weighing 50 # that I had to deal with in restaurant supply was a case of cabbage. Or a 50# sack of onions or potatoes. Nobody is getting a case of cabbage or a big sack at a house.

Honestly, it's probably just HR CYA. Weeding out the folks who can't lift a 50lb box also tends to weed out those who can't lift 25lb all day.

Good. I miss Imperfect Foods - I used to be a customer, years ago - and it's good to see food not going to waste.

If you're still able to sign up, I recommend it. I stopped for a while a couple of years ago because of delivery issues. The Covid lockdowns brought me back. Their delivery issues have improved a lot and their selection has improved GREATLY. It's really nice!
