Puppy obviously was steak deprived and mistook the red control for the meat a good boi deserves.

Back in the days when wireless controllers for games were uncommon and often expensive, my dog figured out that if I was playing a game and she wanted attention, she could step on the wires and either unplug it or if I wasn't holding tightly, get the controller out of my hand.  It was a bit extreme, but it was a technique that worked.
