If a repressive European country like the Soviet Union got to host one, and a repressive Asian country like China got to host one, then I don't see why a repressive Arab country shouldn't be able to host one as well.

After hearing how Qatar treated the people who build the facilities and how they're treating LGBTQ+ people or anyone who dares support LGBTQ+, that's a hard F no from me. But, the IOC being as corrupt as FIFA, the
only consideration will be which country can line pockets with the most cash.

Well, if there is one organization that could make FIFA look like humanitarian aid workers who had taken strict vows of poverty, it would be the IOC; so Qatar at least is keeping it on brand

I would like to think that the IOC is looking at all the FIFA executive committee members either in jail right now, or under indictment, and think "Maybe we should dial back all this corruption a bit."

Then I laugh and laugh and laugh.

Get as much money as you can up front, then say no and donate it in Qatar's name to worldwide LGBTQ+ causes.

Yeah, I know, it's the IOC... but one can dream.

I will reiterate that if Qatar gets the Olympics i will never watch the games again, summer or winter.   Will check on medal counts and such but not watch them.

There are a ton of ski events that are not ranked by judges but by time.  Some of them are even fun to watch, like snowboard cross.

Judges in hockey decide what is and what isn't a goal and decide what is and what isn't a penalty. Only they are called referees.
