Good.

2022-12-07 10:49:19 AM
Yeah, but he should have done at least 91, so he's really no better than the Republicans.

great, now put them on SCOTUS.  Use recess appointments. Force the god damned issue.

Good.

I'd like to see a Supreme Court Justice for each of the appeal court districts next.

Hope to one day see SCOTUS Chief Justice Dale Ho.

But there's no point in controlling the Senate and the judiciary isn't important.

51 senators means that procedural hurdles to confirmations can be cleared (committees will be Dem majority instead of a power sharing agreement).

This is good.

Thank goodness we packed the court and avoided a constitutional crisis where abortion was banned in half the country. Despite how safe people think that abortion rights are, things could be very different if he just sat around and did the bare minimum expectation of his job.

I am so glad that Joe Biden is president. The other option was Cuck L'Orange. He looks SO much better in comparison.

/ And Cuck L'Orange is coming back to make sure that Dark Brandon gets his second term.

And now that the Democrats can do away with the power sharing agreement in the Senate, judicial appointments will be even easier/quicker to get through starting next year.

Amazing how next to zero black, minority, and women have been qualified for judgeships in the past couple centuries, and in recent decades have suddenly become qualified. Weird!

with a 51% majority, the democrats no longer have to share power equally in the senate.  that means that more stuff can make its way out of committee.  its not a panacea, but it does rip away one road block.

also Manchin and Cinema no longer have the influence they once had.

"Mr Kavanaugh, how would you feel about your college-aged daughter playing the well known drinking game Devil's Triangle?"

Would have been the best question in the history of Senate Confirmation Hearings

Good point. Why, when I was a lad, we had something called "meritocracy".
("meritocracy" meant that the job or position or privilege went to the most competent, qualified white man, regardless of his race, creed, or color.)

2022-12-07 11:27:11 AM
Finally, some people of color are being allowed in the federal judiciary. I think the judiciary should reflect American demographics. Only 13% of active federal judges are people of color.
https://americanprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/JudicialDiversityFactsheet-AfAm-2.pdf

I think this is proof of systemic racism, especially when you consider the percent of the US population that is African American.

Let's stop playing games.  By any reasonable measure Biden himself is a Centrist.

Pretending Centrism is the same as being a Republican isn't constructive.  Sure, the party needs to go left to retain relevance, and the Centrism is often frustrating to watch try to function (and fail), but realistically most Centrists should have no problem with these appointments.

Now if we were talking Muslim judges instead of Black?  You might see that Centrist pushback.

I dont quite think that (not republican), but I would hope he is not appointing women of color for a quota or just because. .  I would prefer the best options be picked as judges.  If a black woman is a best option, awesome.
or a chinese/polish/finnish/indian/etc.....

Abox: I believe I've asked this question every time a headline about a President's justice approval numbers has highlighted something other than their judgment.

The quality of their judgement is assumed as they have the qualifications to be nominated to the position and all made it through the confirmation process - it's literally the whole point of the process and therefore not notable.

What is notable, is these characteristics, because for two and a half centuries, very qualified candidates who looked like them who very much *did* have "good judgment" were both actively and systematically prevented from holding such positions.

It's not "colorblind" to pretend like there isn't a legacy of systemic racism in this country, it's ignorant. It's also dumb as shiat to imply that any of these judges lack the required "judgement" to do the job because of their race or gender - the thing that you did, even though you will be deliberately obtuse and pretend otherwise.
