Arson Judge sounds like Axe Cop's best friend.

This mistake happened literally the moment a report on MLB using different balls last year dropped. Turns out they used livelier balls for playoff games, Judge's HR chase, and other marquee games.

As a Giants fan, I never really thought Farhan was going to outbid anyone. I just don't think he's wired that way.

Arson Judge was trending -yesterday-, yet this gets greenlit AFTER the news already broke that Aaron Judge re-upped with the Yankees.

Classic Fark.

Just another example of Scott Boras playing the Giants like a fiddle in order to get a max contract for one of his clients. He seems to do this about once a year now. Very disappointing but not unexpected given recent history.

This was a dumb move by Heyman, but it's not like he's a random Twitter user. He's been a baseball writer for over 30 years, and was the actual Yankees beat writer for a few publications.

Embarrassing moment for an actual trusted source.

Judge isn't a Boras client

When it comes to baseball prognostication, Passan > Rosenthal > Olney > Morosi > a few Twitter randos > Heyman

MLB broke the story like 3 hours ago, then the Atlantic broke the actual terms of the deal shortly after.

Fark sports tab thread in 3 hours? I'm surprised this didn't go green sometime tomorrow afternoon.

And if he wasn't using that shiatty platform, this would have never seen the light of day.  Everyone is in too big of a hurry to be first to report something and things like this happen.

Ok... you got me there.... but the point still stands about the Giants getting played. Again.

Now I really hope "Arson" sticks as a nickname. It's actually a pretty cool-sounding nickname, other than for a closer.

I see they've taken my "get more pitching" idea and told me to shove it right back up my ass.

$40m/year for 9 years. Ouch.

The Giants or the Yankees?

Either way, the pitchers' market is kinda shallow right now. The two big names, deGrom and Verlander, are off the board and teams are so desperate right now you've got the Cubs giving Jameson Taillon $68M/4.

No, Giants seem to be OK in that department... they need hitting.

Yankmes need pitching badly. You're right, not much out there. Makes it a lot more $$$ to poach players or trade... Judge is a Yankee through and through. He's a classic Bronx Bomber... but they are not going to win anything unless they fix their pitching.

If they do get Rodon... that might do it.

Eh, they're not the ones who have to take on Judge's monster contract. They made an effort and Judge ultimately took the better offer. It happens.

..and it just got worse with them losing Taillon. Sure, he wasn't setting the world on fire, but he was still a warm body to toss into the rotation. Right now you've got Gerritt Cole, Nestor Cortes, then there be dragons. Maybe Frankie Montas will recover and actually be the pitcher Cashman -thought- he was getting.. who knows.

Joe_diGriz: $40m/year for 9 years. Ouch.

There's Pujols potential there, but the great thing about beating the Yankees is that if Judge busts, they can just sign someone else.

And then when they win, their fans will say "oh sure there's a huge payroll, but it's cool because it wasn't the most expensive players who won it for us." (See also: Dodger fans, David Price)

$360m for a guy who has played a couple of full seasons who is in his 30s.

I mean... Wow.

I hope this is Jacoby Ellsbury level.

I'm assuming his nickname will be "Seventh Place" in reference to his home run non-record last season.

Hey, I went to school with the guy. Even I wanted him to succeed in NY.

Also TBF I knew that was an outrageous contract. At least I can say about Judge that he can still be a great DH if his legs stop working or something, so he has something to fall back onto that isn't just a giant pile of cash.

Eh, you can only hit the balls thrown to you. I'm more saying that MLB is trying to cover up it's shiat.
