I'll just sit here quietly for the next couple of years until Colorado fires Prime after a 3-8 season.

If he was worried about his public image, he should've never taken the Colorado job.  Coach in the SWAC for a couple of years, look around the landscape to see which job is amenable to you, then take it and thank Jackson State for the opportunity.

Until they make it to an Alabama, or an Ohio St, or a Nebraska (just kidding, Huskers fans!), isn't this just what college coaches do?  It sucks, but college coaches tend to be kind of untrustworthy.

It was never about HBCUs or leading young men or any of that.

It was always about him.

/which is why it's weird that he picked Colorado

Well, it seems like it's about setting his kid up for an NFL career.

Why anyone would believe Deion was thinking of anyone but himself when he first went to Jackson State is beyond me. You could tell it was a resume builder from the get go. Deion is not one to play second fiddle, in his mind. Colorado will be a wake-up call to just how much of a coach he actually isn't.

Could be wrong and he does great.

Deion Sanders is only looking out for Deion Sanders? The hell you say.

He's just chasing the big bucks now.

If anyone else had said this, Bomani would be calling the person racist.  Sanders chased the money.  So does almost every single other college coach.

That said, he should have waited a year.  Colorado's a terrible job to walk into.

"I don't judge him for taking the job at Colorado," Jones said.

...

"It was what it always is; he did it for Deion," Jones added.

...

"There's room to criticize him for the way he has left, for the fact his initial rhetoric is not in line with his ultimate decision."

...

"I wouldn't have come in the first place and said that 'God sent me here to fix HBCUs,' and God decided that in the middle of it, you were supposed to leave?" Jones said.

He added, "He sold a dream and then walked out on the dream. People have the right to be critical of that."

Wow, that's a lot of non-judgment going on there. "I don't judge him, but those other people, who are definitely not me, sure can be critical."

But it's fine for Bomani to speak that way. I don't judge. It's just Bomani doing what a sports talking head does.

They finished 1-11 this year so there's literally only one direction their program can go, even if they hired the corpse of a Wagner mercenary who was killed three months ago as head coach: up. It's low key a pretty risk-adverse job appointment, especially in the era of the transfer portal and Deion I'm sure will be able to convince some blue chip prospects stuck deep on SEC school depth charts to join him in Boulder.

Nevermind the fact that one can become 90% of the way to being bowl eligible in the Pac-12 South by simply taking care of your pancake out of conference schedule and beating both Arizona teams....if Deion can do that he'll find a way (and the media) to make it look amazing.

Pac-12 doesn't have divisions anymore, so you're not guaranteed to play Arizona and AZ State every year anymore.

/at least, not until teams leave and everyone plays everyone.

They open 2023 on the road against TCU. And they play a Nebraska team that's not going to be amazing but should be vastly improved under Rhule. And Colorado State is a rivalry game.

If Prime is lucky, he'll enter Pac12 play at 1-2.

They're separate thoughts. It's not the going to Colorado that seems to bother him, it's selling people on and then backing out on HBCUs (of which Bomani is a graduate).

Yeah when you've been where that program has been the concept of a pancake schedule just does not exist as you sort of are that pancake to everyone else. Even though it's been a wasteland though Boulder is by no means an unattractive place to spend your college years so he should be able to get some players in there. The real test for him is when he has a few decent players if he'll be able to lock horns with the actual coaches out there who were born to coach college ball and not live off their own past athletic accolades.

Want to make a friendly wager on that?

Within four years, Colorado will be a top 25 team and don't be surprised if they're in the top 12 at the end of the regular season.  He won't be fired and if anything, he'll be very successful and poached by an SEC team.

I think he'll be somewhere else within 4 years. If he gets that team up to 5-7 in a season or .500 in two seasons he's gonna be poached by someone.

If the kid can play, the kid can play.  Simple as that.  It's not like Deion is going to be running the 40 for his kid during the NFL combine.  Besides, if the kid is that good, it literally doesn't matter if he played for a D1 subdivision school.

Jimmy Garoppolo, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Joe Flacco, Tony Romo, Carson Wentz, Steve McNair, Doug Williams, Kurt Warner and Phil Simms just to name a few.

Basically open now, he has also told all the current CU players to leave and has convinced CU to offer a "general studies" degree to bring in other players.

/So when in CU going to the Big10 or SEC.....

I don't even think he needs to be that successful at Colorado. I got Willie Taggert vibes.

He's no different than any other big name college coach. Just always onto the next one. It's the kids who suffer the most, but LOL if these coaches care about them. Anyone remember Kiffin's haste Tennessee departure? Did he even talk to his team. If it wasn't Lane, or Deion, it would just be some other trendy coach doing it.

Its a job. People don't criticize normal people for changing jobs for more money, not sure why coaches are somehow special.

Neat video, thanks.

If somebody does something wrong to a friend/family member/what have you, I fully get how a person can be more angry and less forgiving than the directly aggrieved party. People being more pissed off than the players and staff though? I get that, at least at first, but over the long term I'm not sure that it makes much sense.

Boulder is a beautiful part of the world, a political climate that's not actively hostile to Blacks, and he can play to win a national title since Colorado is in a power conference.

Jackson, MS, meanwhile, is a regressive city that struggles just to get clean drinking water.

If you were living in Jackson, and got the opportunity to move to Boulder, you'd find the first moving van & get out of Mississippi too.
