The Rams, on the other hand, don't own their first-round pick next season. And they just lost Matthew Stafford for the season. They could decide to screw the rival Niners by claiming Mayfield.

Seems like they could screw the 49ers over more by letting them have Mayfield

I can't really see anyone other than the 49ers picking up Mayfield. He'll be a free agent next year. I don't see Houston or LA being super excited to finish the season with a mediocre QB (even as a backup) when they've got no shot at the playoffs, but stranger things have happened.

I always assumed he'd be working at Home Depot by the time he was 40.

I thought he did just fine in Cleveland... but those commercials. Oh my god.

He can reject a waiver claim, can he not?  Why would he want to go to Houston or L.A.?

No chance he sniffs the playoffs, and if he goes to the Rams, he will maybe play 4 or 5 games and then Stafford will be back next year.
