The universe is about 13.8 billion years old. That's time for three iterations of stellar evolution, with an increasing fraction of heavy elements each time.

By the way, I would challenge some parts of that chart. Tc and Pm are grey because they're radioactive and they decayed away long before our planet formed. But that also applies to several of the others, like radon. They are decay products of the uranium and thorium which came from the neutron stars, but they formed in our planet's crust. They should get their own category.
