They are showing us what advanced countries can do.

NHK World (the English language NHK broadcast) has been running programs talking about 'the circular economy' for years now.  Recycling, refurbishing, reuse, longer life projects, finding ways to turn waste streams into new products, etc.

The sad thing is that it one of the many things that Alex Jones was railing against.  (Because we should have the freedom to trash and pollute the planet?). I don't watch/listen to his show, but I think he refers to it by another name.  It's also called UN SDG 12, for United Nations Sustainable Development Goal

I'm personally of the opinion that food that's still usable as food should be used as such (even if just for animals).  If this is a waste product, fine, but if it's just 'leftover broth' it could go to a better use (like feeding people or animals, although I understand why you might not want to feed pork derived stuff back to pigs after that mad cow outbreak).
