700 acres in Oregon? I'll take it and live in the guest house. The primary residence can be rented out to some crystal worshipping space cadets.

At first I sort of liked it, but something is really really off with the interior.

The carpeted areas vs the other areas just makes my eyes angry.

No ?
Why ?

For a person who loves trees, they sure killed a lot of them to make that ugly-ass house.

I'd like to spend a few days there, maybe, but not live there. It's "neat," but totally someone else's hallucinogenic dream.

Super Chronic: Do I detect a vague Gaudi influence here?

Oh, hey... yay me. Indeed: "reminiscent of the graceful and curvaceous architecture of Antoni Gaudi." https://www.forbesglobalproperties.com/listings/shining-hand-ranch/

Just googled Gaudi Ashland OR and that came up. Figured it had to have been at least locally famous.

Gaudi and Arts & Crafts had an orgy on shrooms then read Alice in Wonderland together.

Yeah, I loved the house/views out the windows, but it would be hard to take for more than a couple of days at a time.

Renting it out to goofs with more money than sense would be a good way to pay down the mortgage

Yeah, that.

Gorgeous house, though. A little bit fanciful, but just this side of tasteful.

Almost 10,000 sq ft and only 2 bedrooms?  What the actual fark.

Giant kitchen and dinning room for 4 people.   But on the plus side they each get their own bathroom

Firewood door. Fill it up from the outside, don't have to worry about packing wood through the house. Helps keep some of the creepy crawlies out too.

Seven hundred acres, ten thousand square feet, and a two car garage?

Packing wood throughout the house is the whole point.

They could have done better with 1/3 less square footage, used normal materials for all the tree limbs, radiant flooring instead of "rivers of wood", and at least one more bedroom. And 86 most of those funky windows. In case you didn't notice, the main staircase had inset glass panels. Yikes.

Assuming I had $6M, I would have gone half the current size for the main house, and a half-dozen "tiny homes" to be rented out. A garage or stable that could do double-duty as an event space for weddings, retreats, etc., and a 2 bedroom, 1200 sq ft cabin for the live-in forester/rancher/handyman.

Set aside one acre for solar panels, and 10-20 for sustainable wood for fuel. 500 acres would be sustainable wood for building, as well as pasture for some cattle, sheep, and goats. Maybe a bison or two. 20-40 acres for a vineyard. 10 acres for gardening, with an emphasis on heirloom varieties of vegetables (half to be sold to high-end restaurants in SF and Seattle for top dollar, half going to food banks and schools).

I got my Mega Millions ticket, so if I win, this can be "Fark Mansion West".

After looking at the picture of the utility room, I'm pretty sure someone would need to be employed full time to trace out leaks in water lines, take care of the well pump, the generator, and everything that lets that house survive off-grid. I'm old, and I expect competency, so the first thing you have to do is get a uniform:

Then you can work on the proper certs and such. Looking right is the most important part. Must answer to Schneider.

Home builders never respect the garage. Even in 6 million dollar houses. It's ridiculous.

It's a lot of radiant flooring.

Watch select episodes of "This Old House", and you'd see more complex setups in homes 1/4 that size.

As a former Machinist's Mate in the Navy, I've seen far worse plumbing.

That far farking out I'd have a 4000 square foot garage with a pit AND a four post lift in it just in case I needed to fix something to get the hell out of there in an emergency. They obviously had money to spend, build your emergency garage to while you're farking at it.

I like towers, balconies, and interspace, so I quite like it. Way too big for me, though.

If ever there was a home that needed a room, if not rooms, to be a conservatory, though.

5 spaces is enough. Working truck (i. e., a truck that actually gets dirty and dinged up), sports car, sedan, SUV, and a space for bikes, kayaks, etc.

With 700 acres, adding 2 spaces or a standalone stable for a pair of horses makes sense.

It's really impressive that they took so many individually beautiful pieces and combined them into such an overall ugly thing.

A few tweaks to darken the interior a little, but it's amazing.

Ashland's a nice town, it would be a good place to live if you had the bucks and could stand the house. Except, for the last 5-10 years, it's been very smoky during fire season in that area.
