Utah's one of the few outliers when it comes to the GOP's love of Trump. Romney and a fierce challenge by McMullin are evidence of that.

Plus, Texas/Alabama/South Carolina/North Dakota are better bellweathers.

You can't tell anything from Utah. These people still write in Bo Gritz for president.

2022-12-05 12:50:13 PM
They'll still vote for him if he's the nominee, this doesn't tell us much of anything.

That settles it. We should make Utah the first (D) party primary.

Yeah right, like Obama's going to let him use the time machine.

And nearly 100 elected Utah Republicans recently signed a letter trying to get DeSantis to run for president - saying they were "tired of losing."

tfg's latest screed against the constitution might be the straw to break the camel's back.

it definitely allows for some sunlight to creep in between him and the establishment types.

Trump keeps costing republicans elections. He's also costing them millions every month in legal fees.
I wonder how much longer the GOP can keep supporting trump? He's sucking them dry.

Trump is being weighed down by the bad leadership in the Republican party. If Republicans do get their act in gear by the New Hampshire primary Trump should go it alone. This would be best.

I remember. We all loved them. We played their music all the time, every day.

Trump is a blowfish.
People are getting tired of the same song.

They have made a deal with the devil here - they're screwed if they support him, and screwed if they don't.

If they support him, people have shown repeatedly they will crawl over broken glass to vote against him.
If they don't support him, he's going to form the MAGA party, will recruit loonies to run in the down ballot races, and siphon off R votes up and down the ticket.

Either way should be fun to watch... or terrifying... not sure which one applies yet.

The GOP might not have the ability to keep paying Donald's legal bills anymore. He's costing them millions every month, and he keeps expanding his court fights and racking up the billable hours.

Thays because, like everyone else here, you have no idea what you're talking about when you talk about Utah.

This may be a red state, but that's where it ends. These people are not your average evangelical Christians. They don't follow the lead of the GOP, for sure. So as a result, you have all kinds of situations exactly like this. The immigration debate is another one. That alienated a lot of Mormons, as they support immigration. The whole vulgar adulterer thing, as well. Trump got elected here, but he had actual challengers.

Trump is expected to appeal that decision this week. Along with a couple other appeals and delays he's having filed on his behalf.
More billable hours! Yay!

You're sorta right.   In 2016 Utah had an independent run that sucked up something over 20% of the vote.   That I think was generally sincere "family oriented" Mormons opting out of the orange shiatbag.   In 2020 there was no such third option, and they reverted right back to form.

In fact the independent was Evan McMullin who tried to unseat that traitorous assbag Sen. Mike Lee this cycle. It didn't go so well for him this time either, but he did put up a solid showing for Utah. 53.2/42.8. The Democrats opted not to compete in the hopes that he would succeed without their candidate splitting the vote.

It's an intriguing narrative when you likely have a large percentage of your own party kinda hoping that the inevitable result of bad diet and lack of exercise runs it's course.

I mean, "W" went away and he did his BS library and that was it.  He showed up for events, shook hands but for the most part that was it.  As far as we all know he hangs around his "ranch" and cuts down trees and paints and tried to forget that he's just an unindicted war criminal.

While he's not gay, he's too fat and too fancy for 1930s germany. Definitely getting Ernst Rohm'ed.
