Either the Patriots are rebuilding, or Belichick is losing his touch.

It's time to go Bill... thanks for the last twenty years...

The play-calling in that Bills game was high school level.

Go off and live in The Villages, ok? Time to find new blood.

He is one and I have let it go for all his years as a coach... and now he can go openly be an old crazy bastard screaming at Fox News all day long.

He was one of the best coaches of all time.

I just hope and pray that Vrabel might want to come be our coach. He can bring King Henry with him.

/Yes, I need to up the intake on my meds.

Bill Belichick: 'Too hard' now to make major changes to offense

Step #1: Fire Matt Patricia, or at least take away his play calling duties.

Step #2: Instant improvement will follow Step #1.

The Bills blowing out the Pats while the Jets and Dolphins lose in the same week is just fun. I listened to WEEI all day Friday and overdosed on schadenfreude.

Really hope your Bills are able to do it this year.

Eagles/Bengals/Chiefs/Maybe the Cowgirls.. those are the threats.

Not easy, but they should have chances against any of them.

Good luck!!

All of his mistakes were covered by a combination of an all-time great QB who took a hometown discount, some really good drafting, and some of the shadiest, most timely calls in history.

Sooner or later the bill comes due and the coach is fully exposed. His closest active counterpart, Tomlin, almost made the playoffs with Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges, and in a true rebuilding year (this year) still has a legitimate shot at the playoffs. Yeah, go ahead, laugh it up, but their opponents the rest of the way out are Baltimore twice with an injured Lamar, Carolina, Vegas, and the Browns with DeShame. The Steelers aren't quitting.

So now we have a good look at who the Patriots were. The Hoodie made some good calls over those 20 years, but it's readily apparent that it was Brady that made that team go. And saying that is almost enough to make me puke, but you can't deny it: the Patriots have been mediocre to awful during the Mac Jones era.

Adolf Oliver Nipples: QB who took a hometown discount

He played for the 49ers?

I actually think the Pats did a solid job cobbling together skill players from the NFL's scrap heap. It's either the playcalling or the QB, and Jones is in year two. Pats coordinators have notoriously flamed out all across the league, so maybe Bill should stop re-hiring them.

He played 20 years for the same team. Ergo, hometown discount.

I forgot how clever Pats fans think they are.

The foundation of his coaching - from the Bill Parcells tree - is "before you can win you need to learn how to not lose."

This team can't stop committing stupid penalties.  This team can't stop coughing up the ball.  The offensive tackles are awful - they can't really block and they can't help themselves from stupidity.  They could and would have at least 2 more wins without this stupidity plus stronger captains.

Tom Brady played a solid 3-4 years of just protecting the ball before they opened up the passing game.  They used Antowain Smith to run the ball - into piles of people for 2 yard gains - yet they still moved into the playoffs and won Super Bowls because they didn't turn the ball over and commit stupid penalties.

They don't have the right coaching (yes Patricia is the O-Line guy and the playcaller), personnel, or player leadership.  Brady or Bruschi and 10 others would crawl up and down a guy's ass if he was f*cking up.  I swear Mac Jones apologizes to his teammates when they f*ck up over and over.

Plus the Chiefs lost to the Bengals, further separating them from the rest of the AFC.

lol... I'm just busting balls. I appreciated that about Brady... he DID give the team that discount... and instead of buying him the receivers he wanted, they pocketed the money. It only took him a decade to figure that out and get pissed about it.

In every former Lions head coach, I found endearing characteristics. Caldwell had a winning record. Schwartz was super dynamic and raised them from the dead. Marinelli was a good guy, just was provided an awful roster. Mooch was from Michigan. Mornhinweg rode motor cycles.

Ok, maybe not all of them were endearing. I honestly though that Fat Patty was the answer. Even going into his final year, I thought he'd turn it around. Dude was just awful. Bad with the fans, bad with the players, bad with the media and went 13-28-1.

As long as that furry dimwit of a puppet keeps licking Darth Hoodie's sneakers he will have a job. That's literally all his resume is at this point. He (VERY obviously, in hindsight) pretended to be DC for a while, long enough to get a head coaching job and get exposed. Now he thinks he can pretend to be an OC and it just can't be hidden.

Their offensive coaching is horrid and they have Fonzie-itis when it comes to answering for it. Defense and special teams are literally the only reason they're even remotely in the hunt right now.

Although I'm not able to find it now, I've read an analysis that shows that the Brady discount was mostly a myth, almost completely explainable by the fact that he signed long-term contracts that stayed in place as the market kept going upward. There was still a bit of a discount, but I think the analysis calculated that it was worth a total of one or two extra wins over his 20-year career. (Even in the years when his cash earnings and cap figure were below those of his contemporaries, the difference was just a couple million, which might be enough to buy the team an extra backup lineman, WR3 or rotational defensive player.)

Bill's biggest problem is not being able to let go of dead weight.

Re-hiring Patricia for an OC job was bonkers.

Too late. McDaniels has won enough games in a row to keep his job next season.

A month ago... I was expecting him to be back in New England for 2023.

This is about the only way Belichick's offensive coaching decisions this year make sense.

Not sure 'buying' is the word you're looking for. Teams that depend on free agents (current Patriots) to field a team don't go places. Even then it's easy to forget but he wanted Sanu and they went and got him. He wanted Antonio Brown and they went out and got him. Neither worked out for different reasons. Well was dry in 2019 because of a couple bad drafts which finally caught up to them.

He's turned Gillette into St. Myra's Home for Wayward Coaches.

Going into the year, I figured the best they would do is spoil a wild card berth for another team, like beat Miami to keep them out of the playoffs, or at least make it so that Miami's wild card game would be on the road. (Could also work for Buffalo.)

Bill's management is reason #1 why I didn't have higher expectations.

I've hated on Belichick ever since he resigned as HC of the NYJ, but his track record with QBs has been pretty good. Aside from developing Brady himself, Belichick has had success with Matt Cassel, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett, and now Mac Jones (and maybe Zappe). Maybe he's not a 100% hit but I don't think any coach is, especially with relatively low draft stock.

He is closing in on the most all time wins for NFL coaching. But he still needs 21 more wins to tie Shula if you are including playoff wins. He needs 33 wins if you dont count playoffs. It will take some years at this rate.

I figured Patricia and Judge were just placeholders until O'Brien left Alabama to come back to Foxboro. He's not exactly another shining star from the Belichick coaching tree, but at least he has experience as an OC and has worked with Jones already so that fear of "a third system in three years" isn't quite as stark.
