I'm surprised that Adam Sandler's body had a "hip" bone. Given his body of work, I thought he was made entirely of corndog and schmaltz.

I had hip surgery (total replacement) at 46, it's really not a big deal anymore.  I was up and walking within days, and pretty normal within days after that.

At 36 I'm finally starting to feel my age.  Fortunately my knees and back seem okay despite many years of  skateboarding growing up.   I felt great until I hit 35 and then it felt like a switch flipped.  I can't play on the floor with my son for long periods of time or my legs fall asleep, and I can't sleep solely on my side like I used to or arm falls asleep.  My circulation is sh*t nowadays.

I'm 40 and the joints don't move like they used to. Bad knees genetically, a lightning-fast growth spurt growing up, too much infield & batting practice as a second baseman in the first half of my life (squatting at speed and not always the best angles), plus 15 years of swing dancing (a lot of bending and torsion of the knees). It's added up and I'm pretty sure I'll need new knees at some point if I make it far enough.

Sandler also plays a lot of basketball, which probably wore on his hip, too.

That said, dude is 56, but his maturity level has shown signs of reaching the equivalent of someone in his 20s in recent years after years of it residing around pre-teen levels. Congrats, bud!

I'm 49 and have been skating pretty consistently since 15. I just got my first knee replacement last week. I will still need the other done before I can pop any tricks off the tail. Otherwise. I'm feeling good. I had back issues years ago which I was able to fix through yoga.

i reckon having to have a major joint replaced would make you feel old no matter your age.
that said, 56 is in no way young.

I turn 49 next week, and am hobbling around on a slightly torn meniscus in my left knee. Either did it at the gym or trying to get out of my car, who knows.

I was born without hip sockets when I was born: so my first four years I had a hip brace:

Counting down: 48 days until my appointment with a hip specialist. The orthopedist who looked at my x-rays said he's 99% sure they'll say I need it replaced. Basically, it's the only thing I care about for 2023.

I guess I was lucky.  I didn't hit the "You aren't young anymore" wall till I was 48.  But it was very obvious when it happened.
