(Medical Xpress)   Bad reputation? They give us vodka. And are excellent gravy and ketchup and butter and cheese delivery systems. All hail po-ta-toes   (medicalxpress.com) divider line

Vodka, baked, French fries, chips, mashed, tots

...health issues associated with potatoes may actually be due to how people are preparing them and what they're eating them with.

Yeah, it's not the baked potato, it's the butter, salt, sour cream, and bacon bits you put on there. Didn't realize this needed a "study". And I didn't know that potatoes had a bad reputation, either. They're one of my all time favorite foods.

Because the potato's bad reputation is what I'm worried about when frying it up with chorizo and eggs...

Yeah, potatoes are the UberVeg.  They kept a couple million Irish alive, until, you know, the potato plague.  There are so many great potato recipes, and they are a lot better than just a condiment delivery system. This is especially true of potatoes you grow yourself in good well-mineralized soil.  I know most Farkers won't believe me, but there really is a difference, and it's almost as significant as the garden tomato/store tomato difference.

I broke my ankle last winter and didn't get potatoes planted last spring, and have been whining about it ever since.  (The lack of potatoes of adequate quality, not the ankle.)

Oh God, that is one of the ONLY way I eat eggs. I farking love that stuff! :-) Don't usually add potatoes, unless we have some left over from dinner, but potatoes are awesome in Mexican food.

This is true. It is also true for every vegetable I have grown. Broccoli is another example of a vegetable that tastes so much better when grown rather than purchased.
