I'm doing a second run-through right now.

My first was right after launch. Yes I knew about the bugs, to me that was a selling point. I enjoy glitchiness. I had fun.

Video card prices came down enough for me to "justify" buying a 3070Ti with ray tracing. The game looks really pretty. My netrunner build is way overpowered. If I have to fire my gun then I screwed up somewhere.

The driving still sucks. Oh boy, does it suck.

That's the base game and every single patch, update and bugfix to date all together in a single convenient release.

Yup. Plus it's the only way besides photo mode to actually see your character.

That said, CB2077 is a fantastic game now that they've ironed out the bugs. I'm glad that the Netflix series kicked its player numbers up enough to warrant DLC and a sequel.

So...is it good yet? Because I saw a lot of reviews at release, and despite some nice visuals, it looked boring as fark. I normally wouldn't even consider getting a game that was that badly farked up at launch, because I despise rewarding companies for the "sell it broken and fix it later" shiatfest that major game releases have degenerated into. But I farking loved Cyberpunk 2020 when I was a kid. One of my favorite tabletop games of all time. Is it true that you can't be a rockerboy?

I played it at launch on an XB1.  Yeah, it had a ton of bugs, but it was (mostly) playable.  I got through the whole thing and enjoyed it.  The main story is okay, but the side stories are generally good.  They've done a re-balance since launch, so I don't know how the combat/levelling plays since my runthrough, but I enjoyed it.  Once the DLC stuff comes out, I'll probably do another playthrough of it.

The writing is incredible and the action is pretty good. I got it for around $30 earlier this year and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem I have with it is they kinda push you to do everything on your run through so I don't feel like there's a lot of replayability with a new character.

I started about a month ago? when they dropped 1.6.  I have only experienced the infamous T-Pose bug once, and literally the first time I loaded the game.  I haven't seen it since.  The driving, as stated by everyone everywhere, is arse for anything other than 'cycles, and even then can be incredibly frustrating when encountering ANY terrain.

I'm also on my 2nd playthrough (~50hrs on the 1st, barely touching any side quests or hustles) as a fearless Nomad-weeb-samurai blademaster.  Really enjoying going into some of the corners of NC and findings little easter eggs that I totally overlooked the first time.  The Roach Race minigame is a particularly amusing homage to the invariably bad mount experience in any CDPR game.

It's not boring at all. I've done four playthroughs so far. All with different paths and endings.

It's kind of appropriate.  As another poster commented back when the game is new, the setting is technically post-cyberpunk, despite the name.  Silverhand and his group took their one big final shot at Arasaka back in 2020, and it survived and came back stronger than ever.  By 2077, corp dominance is just a fact of life.  The punks are gone, either sold out, burned out, or dead.  There are still people living on the edges, trying not to get crushed, but nobody's standing up in defiance anymore.  2077 is long past the end of an era, but after one fateful job sees the return of a ghost, it's potentially the start of a new generation to carry the torch.

I've been on one playthrough for ~100 hours; I picked up the game a while back before patch 1.6. I tend to get sidetracked just wandering around doing shiat and seeing what I can find that's completely unmarked. There's lots of nice, little things you can stumble upon that are related to quests or other happenings in the world but are completely unmarked. I'm sure I've run into a bug or two somewhere but nothing memorable since I play Bioware games. None of the infamous bugs like T-Posing or anything.

I'm going to wade into the conversation and say Ymmv for Cyberpunk even with the 1.61 update. I bought it on sale during the Autumn Steam sale based upon all the good feedback in these threads. Ive made it about 20 hours in. I'm running a mod-less clean install on a pretty beefy system - 3900X, 32gb ram, 3080ti. I've still had a lot of random CTDs. Sometimes I get a hour or two of play and others I can't even open a menu without it crashing. But as you can see from the posters above, it might not happen for you.

Ignoring whatever game issues are chasing the crashes, the only actual gameplay bug I've run into was falling through the road on a hill. I was able to get out without having to reload or anything.

I really enjoy the atmosphere and watched the Netflix show after getting the game. The show was really good and matches the games' atmosphere very well.

The world-building has been great. Night City seems like a real city, if a little small, thin, and quiet compared to the real thing.

Some of the conversations you overhear range from hilarious to sad. There's a bit in the cemetery between a child and their father that is both heartbreaking and really shows the differences between the haves and have-nots.

I read all of the messages. You end up with stories about betrayal, double-crossing, and sometimes just the bad luck to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As a shooter, I think it's kind of meh. This is the future, though! Why would I shoot my way through when I have these neat hacking (aka "magic") things to play with?

The two biggest reasons that there is no replay value for a lot of people is that there is no randomly generated content and no way to skip that stupid farking heist mission and just start in the docs chair. Honestly there is no reason for anything else in the game prior to that anyways because it all could have been a cutscene, but instead they pretended it was "good gameplay" to force players into a 4 hour long QTE

I'm on my third playthrough right now. It's one of my favorite games.

It's fantastic. The storytelling is great, and it looks gorgeous even if you have too turn the settings down a bit. I'm on a 3440x1440 ultra widescreen, and running an RTX 2080. Ray tracing off and medium settings and I'm getting around 60 FPS outside, up to about 90 FPS inside.

what lunatic uses ads toggle.  ADS toggle is a feature included to make games accessible to people playing with 1 finger after horrible fireworks accidents, not normal people who don't suck.

And........ well, you can't choose rockerboy as a profession, but being a rockerboy comes up in the story in a quest (don't want to spoil anything). It shouldn't really spoil much to explain that Keanu Reeves' character is a Rockerboy, and his consciousness is stuck in your head (pretty sure they spoil that in the trailers and description of the game) as a major plot point.

I suggest "Streetkid" for your first playthrough. I think that background is the most fleshed out, and also it just seems to me to fit more naturally in the setting and with who V is as a character.

What surprised me most about the game was that Keanu's Rockerboy is actually very integrated into the entirety of the game.  I expected he'd just pop up during main quest stuff, but he actually shows up throughout a lot of the sidequests and really feels like a companion through the game instead of just a plot point that has some words every few hours to advance the story.

Agreed. I absolutely loved Johnny's little asides, quips, advice, and such. I agree that it added a lot to the experience. He'll chime in all the time, which is great, and there's also some side quests which are very relevant to his interests where his dialogue is important.

What I liked most about Johnny is that at the start of the game I was like, "Man, this guy is a terrorist and a major asshole. I hate him" and by the time we got to the end I was like, "Johnny Silverhand was right and is my spirit animal! Let's set off another nuke!" The game makes a point of setting the expectation that V and Johnny's personalities would be merging and it would be difficult for V to tell apart who's motivating who by the end, but I just plain was on Johnny's side! Quite a journey.

Thing is, Johnny was a psychotic asshole at first.  His first impressions didn't exactly endear you to him, let's say, and he didn't ever really stop being an arrogant prick toward anyone.  He just softens on you in particular by the end, and you see him forced to confront some of his backstory and come to terms with how bad he was.

Yeah, Johnny and V both have character development through the course of the game. I just think it's funny that by the end of the game you've seen enough that Johnny's seething hatred of the corpos can reasonably be seen as justified. So not only do Johnny and V have journeys as characters, the player can have one too. I thought the writing, like Witcher 3, was totally top notch.

It's an above average open world game that has some great production values, though it's open world doesn't feel very alive. The driving sucks, the cops still are fairly pointless, and it has a well told but predictable story. It's not bad though and if you like Cyberpunk it's worth getting on sale sometime.

Arasaka made a damn good case in favor of Johnny's POV. They had some existentially horrifying shiat going on - and that's in addition to the murder-filled world of grinding poverty and hopelessness they and the other corps have built and studiously maintained.

Just starting a pure human run. No cyber ware that isn't integral to the story. We'll see how far I get in very hard. One of the best things about the game is the soundtrack.

/Running maybe 100 mods, too. Everything still works.

So you went from being a sane human being who was against killing thousands of innocent people to a psychopath?

Arasaka made a damn good case in favor of Johnny's POV. They had some existentially horrifying shiat going on - and that's in addition to the murder-filled world of grinding poverty and hopelessness they and the other corps have built and studiously maintained.

Johnny's girlfriend created soulkiller.
She was the originator of the entire problem encountered by V.
If he wasn't a self centered douche, he could have stopped it by stopping his girlfriend in the beginning.
Detonating an atomic bomb inside a major city is the act of a psychopath.
Also consider everything you witness about Silverhand background is a lie, it's his delusions he created or was programmed to believe.

ChubbyTiger: Just starting a pure human run. No cyber ware that isn't integral to the story. We'll see how far I get in very hard. One of the best things about the game is the soundtrack.

/Running maybe 100 mods, too. Everything still works.

Oh, nice, last time I played there wasn't much in the way of modding.  I might have to do another playthrough sometime soon, see what's on offer.

oopsboom: PvtStash: does it have aim toggle yet?
is it ever going to get aim toggle?
why the fook does it not have aim toggle, it has everything else to toggle, just not aim toggle, for stupidity sake i guess.

what lunatic uses ads toggle.  ADS toggle is a feature included to make games accessible to people playing with 1 finger after horrible fireworks accidents, not normal people who don't suck.

I never claimed to be normal people or not suck. But good to know i guess.

Is that the River missing persons quest? If they don't build a whole game around that detective shiat, I'll be very disappointed.

No, though that's also quite a good one too.

I'm trying to figure out how to not spoil it for those who hadn't played it yet.
You end up participating in creating a rather unique braindance.

I did that quest on my first playthrough. Haven't done it since. I can't decide what my objection really is, but it bothers me.

It's not a comfortable quest chain to follow to its conclusion.

No, I didn't participate.
I get it's only a game but some behaviors are just going to far.

Yeah, it's hard to say specifically which part of it made me most uncomfortable.  Between the psychosis, the exploitativeness, it felt kind of sacrilegious (and I say that as an atheist), the sheer viscerality of participation, and a whole bunch of other stuff, there was plenty of discomfort to go around, and yet I can't point to any one thing.  At least you have the ability to talk the participant out of it or persuade the corpo that it's unconscionable even by their standards if you pick the right options, but even still, it's rough.  It might be a nice ideal that seeing it would change something about the reality of 2077, maybe people could do with a dose of spiritualism, but I'm not too confident.

I dunno, literally hammering nails into a guy's wrists and feet did it for me. I felt pretty gross afterwards, and I'm an atheist!

I did appreciate that they "went there."

Pretty much sums it up for me as well. Wrapping up my third play through and it still hits uncomfortably.

That's pretty much what I meant about the viscerality, yeah.  I found it interesting that Silverhand, of all people, was quietly solemn/respectful during all that.  I think it was the closest he came to respect/compassion pretty much all game, including at least one scene where the only reason you didn't punch him was the "he's incorporeal" thing (Judy's apartment, after...  you know).  He seemed to respect how far the guy was willing to go to stand by his convictions, it was a level of self-determination and authenticity you don't see too often in the setting.  By the ending of the mission I got, the corpo really seemed like she'd started to think that seeing this would change people, and I can't say that she was necessarily wrong about that.
