Shot-for-shot remake of the original special but all the humans are replaced by clothed Wookiees and all the Wookiees are naked humans. The Wookiees speak normal human language and the humans all try to make Wookiee noises, no ADR or dubbing, just the actors themselves on set trying to make Wookiee sounds.

I partially agree with that. I'll explain: Solo's problem is everything that puts Alden Whatshisdouche's grinning mug front-and-center. His Harrison Ford cosplay was cheap and unconvincing.
Every other thing works, I liked the setting, the heist, and most of all Paul Bettany who had the makings of an awesome Star Wars villain (Harrelson did great work too). But in the end the film couldn't get past some very stupid, STUPID, shiat. (Like how his surname became "solo")

Oh no, bummer. Loved the original movie, one of my favorites as a kid, hadn't tried the series. Not surprised it's bad, but still, that sucks.

Not gonna spoil Willow for you in case you ever want to see it yourself.
I'll just say that it suffers from contriving a situation which goes contrary to how the characters you know from the film would have acted.

When a show is 12 episodes long, the pacing is glacial.  When it's 6, it's 'too fast'.  There really is no way to make people happy apparently.

I liked Andor, but I think comments about its pacing are legitimate. It's Star Wars, not Better Call Saul. I think it's fair to observe that it drastically deviated both in pacing and tone from what Star Wars has always tried to do in the past. Maybe that's what you want from Star Wars, and maybe it isn't.

/okay, its other flaw was that the empire's prison system makes no sense

I think you're overselling it a bit. But, yeah, if you ignore that the actor is supposedly Han Solo, it gets better. There's a ton of stupid stuff mixed in with the self-serious tone. I just watched the Robert Ulrich 80s banger Ice Pirates (with Ron Perelman and Angelica Huston) and that movie gives me a headache it's goofy and makes no sense. Solo would have been better along those lines.

Andor should have been 8 episodes. It had the same exact problem that Netflixes Marvel series had. Good stories that took too damn long to tell.

Remove every scene that doesn't advance the plot. That's the role of a good editor.

Meh, I remember the EU story where IG-88 replicated itself into five copies and almost took over the Death Star in an attempt to start a droid uprising. A sassy robot doesn't even register as consequential.

i also was annoyed by that character too til I learned she specifically got Lord & Miller fired, since they purportedly modeled on Kathleen Kennedy & even her dialogue's supposedly taken from Kennedy Story Notes verbatim

Yep. Halfway through production they should have suspended it and rewrote it as a Calrissian film. They could have afforded to pay the actors more for a second shoot, and it would have made a lot more money centered on Donald Glover instead of Alden Ehrenreich.

Ehrenreich would have been fine as a minor supporting Solo. He was just completely upstaged by Glover, Bettany, Harrelson, and even Clarke, and couldn't carry the film as the lead.

Prequels and the last trilogy should be buried with all those Atari ET carts.

The Silver Mullet: Solo was a fun movie.


Yeah, except for the way they forced every bit of Solo lore into a single movie. Somebody should pay for that nonsense.

They could have taken a piece of the lore, made a movie of Solo being a street kid, and ended with him heading to the imperial academy (just as Luke wanted, at one time). They could have easily made 4 or 5 movies that fans would have enjoyed. Instead it got the slick "Hollywood producers know better than the fans!" treatment, while trying to enter every retcon into canon, and worse, it started with Lord and Miller, who thought they were making a slapstick version of Dumb and Dumberer in Space (Callback to the Holiday Special and Bruce Valanch's zero-knowledge scripting, I guess).

We certainly didn't need the Kessel Run or Solo taking the Falcon in virtually no time at all. I imagine he spends the next ten years routinely hauling spice and death sticks for low-level crime bosses with nothing more eventful than that one time he had to dump a cargo before the Imperials inspected his ship.
