Joyce initially declined to respond, saying he didn't know what Trump said on social media and that the public wasn't "interested in looking backwards."

That's the same bullshiat non-answer that many Republicans used when Trump tweeted something stupid. "Oh, I didn't read it, so I have no way to form an opinion." I'd love to see an interviewer respond with, "It wasn't 'War and Peace,' damnit! It was a short statement that you can read right farking now! We can wait until after the next commercial break, if you need more farking time! But you're gonna farking read it and offer your opinion!"

And they'll respond with, "We're a republic, not a democracy!"

Which has a very awkward source:

As part of Talmadge's 1956 Senate campaign,[16] he published the infamous segregationist pamphlet, "You and Segregation,"[17] arguing that desegregation was a communist plot, that the use of federal power to forbid segregation was unconstitutional, and that, in the now-imfamous phrase, the United States was a "Republic not a Democracy," since democracy was communist.

Liz Cheney very much is a fascist, she voted for everything Republican except the impeachment. The impeachment was the ONLY non-fascist thing she did, and that was ONLY because "You tried to kill a biatch" ie Trump sent his minions to murder her and she took it personally.

mrwknd: GOP hates American freedom.

Yes and no.

Most people who identify as 'conservative' aren't really philosophically conservative.  They are probably closer to petty authoritarians.  As someone else said better, that the axiom of conservatism is 'you can't tell me what to do, I tell you what to do,' which we see played out in life...anti-mask, anti-vax, pro-gun, but also for book-banning, restricting reproductive and marriage rights, universal healthcare, etc.  Conservatives are very much in favour of freedoms they want to have, and against freedoms they don't want you to have.

Couple that with Galbraith's observation that:  "The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."

And your result is a government by some people, for those people.

Does that feel familiar?

Our country was meant for rich white landowning males. It was meant to be this from the start.

Article one, section two of the Constitution of the United States declared that any person who was not free would be counted as three-fifths of a free individual for the purposes of determining congressional representation. The "Three-Fifths Clause" thus increased the political power of slaveholding states.

Christian zionists are very much a thing. They believe that the Jews have to completely control Israel before the Rapture happens or some shiat like that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Zionism

Christian Zionism is a belief among some Christians that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land and the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 were in accordance with Bible prophecy. The term began to be used in the mid-20th century in place of Christian restorationism.[1][2]

Christian advocacy in support of the restoration of the Jews grew after the Protestant Reformation and has its roots in seventeenth century England.[3] Contemporary Israeli historian Anita Shapira suggests that evangelical Christian Zionists in England of the 1840s "passed this notion on to Jewish circles",[4] while Jewish nationalism in the early 19th century was widely regarded with hostility by British Jews.[5]

Some Christian Zionists believe that the gathering of the Jews in Israel is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus.[3][6] The idea has been common in Protestant circles since the Reformation that Christians should actively support a Jewish return to the Land of Israel, along with the parallel idea that the Jews ought to be encouraged to become Christians as a means of fulfilling biblical prophecy.[7][8][9][10] Polling has suggested that Jews distrust Christian Zionist support for Israel and Jews themselves.[11]
