I considered that one of the most farked up things I've ever watched since the first time I saw it a few years ago. They tortured a crying, unarmed, somewhat drunk man with confusing and contradictory instructions while constantly threatening to kill him if he did anything wrong. Well, it wasn't just a threat. Assholes.

Perhaps then the good people of Mesa will vote for city officials that don't tolerate trigger-happy gangsters in the police force.  I wish this settlement had been 8 billion instead of 8 million.  Cop murder will stop real fast once cities start being bankrupted by huge settlements.

No he no longer a cop. He is retired on permanent disability claiming PTSD and never has to work again where the state will pay him. Indeed a worthy punishment for a rather viscous murder.

Mandatory Professional Liability Insurance for all LEOs, paid out of their salary (not union or whatever) - it's like a couple hundred bucks a year which architects and accountants and trainers and consultants and cosmetologists have to carry.

When a carrier has to pay out for a thug like this scumbag they'll drop his coverage and he gets to ply his skills at Walmart.

A murderer who claims a disability pension at the taxpayers' expense due to "PTSD" caused by killing an unarmed non-threatening human and then getting acquitted at trial for it is nothing but vermin of the lowest order. While we are not supposed to endorse violence while commenting in a public forum, I would be positively jubilant to hear that some Mesa resident deals with this in the same manner that I would exterminate a trash panda that attacked my chickens.

The ex-cop is 25. He will get $30830.52 in disability pay every year. If he lives to 75 he will have collected $1,541,526 from the living citizens of Mesa. Ironically, that is about the same amount the victim's parents received from Mesa in a separate lawsuit.

shiatty cops do bad things every day on my goddam dime, and they know they can do that without consequence as much as they feel like until they retire on a pension.

They know when caught I, the taxpayer, foot the payout to their victims and families and it is literally impossible for them to get fired, let alone stay fired for their brutality, misconduct, and perjury; let alone prosecuted or LOL convicted.

If their position on the brute squad were predicated on toning things down just enough to keep the insurance actuaries from booting them, that would be an incremental improvement.

I just Googled "Denver police beating" looking for that story of the cops a few years back caught on their own skycam (rapidly zoomed out and away) beating the shiat out of a kid for calling his dad for advice about the cops beating the shiat out of his friend - the one where the cops and their buddies lied on their reports, were fired, then re-hired.

Came across these instead, which I hadn't even heard about yet:
*Denver reaches $1.2M settlement with unarmed teen who was beaten by police officers, shocked with Taser
*Denver settles with two demonstrators who claim cops used excessive force during the George Floyd protests

From the picture, the AR-15 is fully automatic (or just "automatic") meaning its a machine gun.   Why police would ever need a machine gun....    Lay down some cover fire....  Spray and Pray?

There is no excuse nor reason for the police to own machine guns.

It is important to note that the officer shouting the instructions and the officer who fired are not the same people. The one who was shouting the instructions was Sgt Charles Langley, not Brailsford.

Not by everyone. Daniel Shaver and Chris Roupe were two names that came up ALOT during the BLM protests during the Trump era. There were a few others from local stories I don't remember as well, but they're examples of the (frankly ironic) fact that BLM cared more about white victims of police brutality than the centrists or the counter-protestors even pretended to.

Well. We started by paying them to find escaped slaves.  Then we paid them to "resolve" situations where people were being "uppity".  Then they started dealing with "disrespectful" and that overlapped with "high".
