Sliding Carp: So, a casino on the border of Indiana and Kentucky.  I'm guessing the cuisine will be heavy on  cigarette sandwiches and despair soufflé

As opposed to casinos in other places?  They're all farking creepy.  Watching people just mindlessly press a lever as they pour money they can't afford to lose down a drain.

ongbok: SafetyThird: Opening a shop that your celebrity is attached to, in a casino, in a place that the that casino is the biggest draw in the area (locals are not going to Vegas regularity), but those locals feel connected because gambling or something, is probably a good bet.

The casino is owned by Ceasars, so Ramsay probably didn't have much of a choice. I'm guessing that he has a contract with Ceasars so they can use his name on any restaurant they want to. If they want to open a Gordon Ramsay restaurant in their casino in Moose Knuckle, Manitoba, they can, and je doesn't have much say

I'd be surprised if Ramsey didn't get a veto for exactly situations like this where putting the restaurant in a backwater would tarnish your brand.

What I think is more likely, is that Ramsey is a whore and doesn't give a fark anymore so long as he gets paid.

It is right across the river from Louisville KY.  So the fact the town itsself has a population of 162 is not relevant.  It is drawing from 1.3M people in Louisville.

Now we all know Gordon Ramsey will likely set foot in the place once.  They will do some grand opening dinner where they invite all the folks that have lost a lot of money at the casino in for a "free" steak.

It's Indiana/Kentucky, people will come from miles around just for the novelty of eating at one of Ramsey's restaurants.  Plus events/marriages.  Staying power will last for at least a few years, more if he stops in every so often and stays famous.  It's also going to be way cheaper to operate than in NYC or LA.  Also, looks like it's pretty close to Kentucky Kingdom, so there's that.

Whenever I want to fetch me some good vittles, Indiana is the first place I think of. But only at the fanciest casino in town. I ain't no greenhorn.
