You cannot run for office where you have to swear to uphold that which you such to abolish.
Even if the cowards in law enforcement won't run you in for your crimes.

2022-12-04 8:18:24 PM
So, "just a goddamn piece of paper" again?

2022-12-04 8:25:38 PM
Republican Ohio Rep. Dave Joyce said Sunday that he didn't want to be drawn into commenting on Donald Trump's recent call to suspend the Constitution over baseless claims of 2020 election fraud.

God forbid you appear on a political discussion show and get drawn into talking about the political story that's being talked about the most. Farking douchebag.

2022-12-04 8:36:43 PM
The oath is to defend the Constitution. "Oath-breaker" is a crap label to try and run on, one would think.

I've never been a Republican, so maybe I'm reading it wrong.

2022-12-04 8:38:52 PM
I mean...the Red Hats have spent decades trying to dominate enough state houses to call a constitutional convention and "ensure the future for the white race".

Also...you only count as white if you are an evangelical man.

Does this mean we can get rid of guns?

2022-12-04 8:39:34 PM
Line 'em up. Shoot 'em. Problem solved.

/treason is treason, amitrite?

2022-12-04 8:39:59 PM
They know that liberals have guns too, right? 'Cause this is literally how you get yourself assassinated.

That's the thing. They do not take an oath to the constitution. They take an oath to the annotated pocket constitution and bible.

"If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy."

Like the Bible, Republicans only care about the parts of the Constitution that support their ideology.  The parts that support their ideology will then become fungible once it becomes inconvenient.

These farking people.

Seditious garbage, the entire GOP.

Maybe the best result of the midterms was the gain of two Blue governors.   That should push back the talk of a "Constitutional convention" for awhile.  Maybe.

Yes, we are. And its not working. "The elections are rigged so vote for me" won't work.

I said at the beginning that t**** would eventually lead to "the fissioning of the GOP." Their "big tent" of homophobes, religious nut jobs, nazis, and billionaires going to come apart at the seams now.

It's not a call to "suspend the constitution". It's a call for overthrowing the US government. It's a call to functionally end The United States.

The so-called journalists who are using this watered down language are either complicit, stupid or cowards doing a grave disservice to their audience.

2022-12-04 8:54:11 PM
What's important is that the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth, commander-in-chief of its military, with the keys to its nuclear arsenal, only SAY crazy things about ignoring its constitution & laws. Yes, that's it.

2022-12-04 8:54:40 PM
Joyce, the chair of the Republican Governance Group, a centrist group in the House...

We found the mythical centrist Republicans; unfortunately that seems to mean they are only mostly rotten as opposed to being rotten to the core as the rest of the Republican Party is.

I've thought about that. Since the president cannot crime...they could IN THEORY shoot a member of Congress or SCOTUS.

I am in no way advocating for violence. In fact, violence never solves anything. I would go further and say that nobody should shoot anyone else, ever.

The difference is that the rest of us are finally waking up and realizing that it poses a clear and present danger and needs to be dealt with one way or another.

Goldwater, so a little before.

In July, Joyce was unanimously elected chair of the Republican Governance Group, which he has said is "hellbent on breaking through Washington's dysfunction."

Dude, the GOP is the dysfunction.

A thought on this.  I wonder if the White Supremacist gave him that idea at dinner.

Either way, he is really REALLY pushing it right now.  The GOP will have to cut him off soon.  Maybe that's his plan.  Get kicked out of the party and form his own.

I love watching these terrorists try and tiptoe through the terroristic tulips.  C'mon, porcine Ohio man, show some balls and say what you mean. I got news for you, asshole, not gushing in full support of insurrection and sedition is enough to get you primaried.  I just added him to the list of primary challenges I will vociferously support.

The GOP can't just cut him off. They just spent the past 6 years purging the unfaithful. It's his party.

All MAGATS are traitors. Every single one.

Any Republican who doesn't denounce this loudly and unequivocally is a MAGAT.

Keep repeating it. Make MAGATS own it.

Summoner101: Like the Bible, Republicans only care about the parts of the Constitution that support their ideology.  The parts that support their ideology will then become fungible once it becomes inconvenient.

Going further with that, Jesus was meant to represent a new covenant with God to override the old one, and the Constitution was meant to represent a new set of laws to override British rule.  Republicans claim to worship both, but when pressed for sources for their beliefs, they sure are quick to cite the Old Testament and British colonial law.

2022-12-04 9:16:45 PM
If the trump administration years have shown us anything, it is is that NOTHING is a dealbreaker to the GOP, as long as they get to be behind the wheel.  A democrat president would have been impeached a thousand times if they had pulled even 1/10th of the fascist shiat that Turnip did.

This happened before the Civil War as well. Slave States were all for a powerful Federal Government right up until they realized that they were losing control over it. That's when they suddenly decided to break away.
