Harrisburg police went to Rivera's apartment on Seventh Street around 6 a.m. to try to find paperwork for the stolen motorcycle....

Rivera never reported the motorcycle to police as stolen, prosecutors said, and it's unclear if Rivera was able to prove to police that he owned the motorcycle...

So few things I am missing, how did the police end up at his house? He didn't report it stolen did they suspect/know he was the killer to begin with?  If it wasn't reported stolen how did they get a warrant to search for paperwork for a stolen bike?

Also vaguely seems to be giving me the vibe if he had reported it stolen or showed ownership killing the kid would be less serious

I was a chem major, so I would amuse myself by setting up some simple labware (a Soxhlet extractor, if you care) to extract essential oils from plants like roses and lavender. I didn't hide it. It was set up on my dining room table. The yearly external window cleaners reported it, and the nightmare began. To cops, all home lab setups are meth labs. Ya, meth. From a pile of flowers and some hexane.

Finally gave up. It wasn't worth the hassle.

Well the ATF declared that Short Barreled Rifles with an arm brace are pistols, so stuff like that could certainly be the 'pistols' not included in the 'handgun' category.  Or maybe a case of journalists not knowing wtf is what, but I can see that happening too.

They caught him riding the bike on a surveillance camera, presumably there was a license plate that was registered to him or his address. There was probably a witness who said the shooter rode off on the bike, the found the camera footage, boom, showed up at his house.

Might be "shorty" AR-15 pistols; which are all the rage!  With the fore arm brace on it; even though every AR douche bro swears that they don't bring it up to their shoulder... so it still qualifies as a "pistol"!  ( or handgun, hard to keep all this in order!)

My favorite part of the story is that he's being held at Dauphin County Prison. I took a look at that on Gmaps and the prison is right next to a shopping mall. Prison on the left, mall on the right:

The name confused me for a minute but that facility serves as a jail AND a prison, so it holds pre-trial and sentenced offenders both. Not surprisingly, since it's Pennsylvania, it also has a hard time keeping inmates alive.

16 dead since 2019 - including one prisoner who froze to death in his own cell after repeatedly complaining about ice on the inside of his cell.
