very surprised.  this offseason there was a lot of talk of the Big 12 / Big 10 making a run at the also-rans in the Pac 12, with USC and UCLA already having committed to the Big 10 for I thin k2024.

point being, the weak sisters of what will become the Pac 10, in all likelihood, there is talk of the Big 10 or Big 12 making a run at UW and/or Stanford, and ASU supposedly (which makes no sense as ASU sucks ass).  thing is, ASU supposedly won't go unless UofA - the rival since 1899 - gets dragged as a package deal to keep the rivalry.

point being, NO ONE is talking about Colorado going.  the talk is of the Pac 6, or Pac 8, waht the fark, making a run at San Diego State, San Jose State, Air Force, farking Chico State (exaggerating), to reconstitute a Pac 10/12.

is DEION FREAKING SANDERS, going to settle for a minor league football conference?  yeah right.  i guarantee his contract has some escape clause re "if the Pac gets cannibalized and the Buffs get left in the cold, I can leave the second that contract is signed."

I've heard speculation that the Big 12 is looking at Utah and Colorado, and the ASU/AZ speculation I've heard was that they were on their own.  Given how bizarre college football conference realignment has been in my life, I expect ASU, Arizona, Washington State and Oregon State to join the ACC.

Never imagined him being the head coach type, credit where it's due to a good start.  Pretty sure he was the inspiration for this character, originator of a classic line that I've used a thousand times:

The conference system is broken. Too much corruption and greed for football programs masquerading as schools.  And Deion decided to abandon a good thing at Jackson State for a piece of the pie.

/And all these money-grubbers cried bloody murder when the players said "hey, maybe we should make a tiny fraction of what y'all are making off of us..."
//Which is a good metaphor for corporations in general...

I don't get it. If you watch the 60 min interview from a few weeks ago, he makes a big deal about giving back to the local community.

What's he going to do in Boulder? Convice the trust fund kids from Chicago and New York that they need to bathe? Remove the jam bands from their playlists?

He literally told his team " you either get promoted or terminated" when he told them he accepted the gig.
Some one needs to remind him who Eddie Robinson was.

As a Colorado resident it is interesting to see any national news story involving the football team of Taxpayer University that isn't involving multiple felonies being committed by someone associated with the program.

Definitely a weird move, but it's not really lateral. Thought he was all about HBCU when he took the Jackson state job, but it's prime time, he ain't about nothing but money, and that's what it is. Definitely can't blame him.

It still to be seen what he will do for HBCU. Arguably he can do a lot more for the money wise at a major program. But I'm figuring there had to be some kind of deal between the PAC 10 and the HBCU to get him to Colorado since the Florida State deal with him never materialized

Still to be seen? Took Jackson state to undefeated. Can't get better than that, literally. He's gonna be .650 or so at best with Colorado

Didn't they finish 1-11 this year?

Next season will be hilarious for coach prime. CU opens at TCU, and finishes with 4 straight road games-at Oregon, UCLA, Utah and WSU. Also USC before that stretch-so yeah. Dude is taking a safe bet of 5 mill to take a team, raid transfer portals and get 3 wins next year and get called a success. If anything better happens, he bails for a better job. Dude is Lane Kiffin all over again. There is no way he completes or extends his contract at Colorado.

.650 or so?
,
Within four years his team will be competing for the national championship.  (of course if he stays there)

Players want to play for this guy and he'll be able to recruit anywhere he wants.  Call me naive but I think Deion is going to be a great college football coach.

huh. obv Utah just won the Pac 12, but Colorado has never been a factor in the 5-6 years (if that!) they've been with the Pac.  And from a ratings standpoint (because that's what really drives this whole thing), Seattle and Phoenix (and transient as the Phoenix market is) make more sense than metro Denver.  you could very well be right, thing is, Colorado is pretty terrible, and while one could put a happy face on it by saying, as has been said here, he's going to recruit kids left and right, are kids going to turn down the SEC, bluebloods of the Big 10/12 (or Big 14 or what the fark), leave California or Texas, to have winters in Denver?  good luck.....

2022-12-04 9:56:32 AM
Deion is about to find out recruiting against tiny HBCU schools is a lot easier than major programs. At some point he's going to have to actually coach and he's going to end up like every failed college coach who found out it's a lot harder to win when your team isn't vastly more talented than the opposition.

Someone whose system thrived for decades under segregation until the major schools finally woke up and started recruiting "his" players, and whose legacy Gambling has been actively tearing down since his passing?

The Big 12 already had Colorado. Why would we want them back, especially now that they totally suck? Even Iowa State could beat them any day.

I think he will as any success would get him aligned for a bigger job, but it should make for an interesting 18-24 months in Boulder.

I guess if you're Colorado why the fark not? You can't get much lower and at least Deion should bring in some recruits. Not a bad step-up gig for Deion either. Expectations will be low so any success should help him land a bigger fish.

I'm gonna double down and say that CU meets the definition of "huge school" and JSU does not. Deion's move makes sense, but you called it hilarious.

What I find hilarious is your effort to shiat on the Buffaloes with an Ohio U login, the day after they lost to... Toledo.

I don't think he's gonna be there in four years unless he's totally mediocre, but not bad.

If he does well? By year 4 he's moving to SEC country.

Also, LOL

He basically walked into the room and told every single Buffs player to GTFO. And his son is the new starting QB.
